AI Based Generative Fill makes Photoshop 10x Better

Photoshop is getting an infusion of generative AI today with the addition of a number of Firefly-based features that will allow users to extend images beyond their borders with Firefly-generated backgrounds, use generative AI to add objects to images and use a new generative fill feature to remove objects with far more precision than the previously available content-aware fill. One of the new features is called Generative Fill and it will allow users to extend an original image that was cropped in too closely with computer-generated content, or add features based on a text description.

I have been a Designer for over 20 years, Photoshop was always the go-to tool for everything around image manipulation. As soon as they announced that they were going to integrate generative AI features into Photoshop, it was clear to me that Photoshop would stay the leading industry standard for the above-mentioned use-case(s). I am also utterly stunned by how well that generative fill works. That accelerates the work of each designer so much that it is hard to grasp ;) Well done, Adobe.

As someone who used Photoshop regulary . This is going to be a game changer. I've loved ai for ages. Ever since the verry release of dalle 2. I was one of the first to sign up for the waitlist and here we are now with this high level ai in Photoshop itself. Wow

For real I've been testing it and using it all day, its amazing! Take MJ results in and inpaint/outpaint etc. Or just start from scratch, dont even need to write a prompt.

I think Photoshop definitely nailed it this time. I don’t have to worry installing this and that. I don’t have to figure out what are the setting like AI model, ratio sizes what not. I don’t have to import or export images to different places to do different jobs. Everything can be done in one stop shop. Awesome!!

The resolution is restricted to 1080x1080 pixels. You might try selecting smaller areas to see if the resolution of the render is better.

I love all the traditional artists that use photoshop have to be exposed to this in their own program. This is exactly how AI gets integrated. In all of those programs like this, After Effecte, Maya Blender etc. Midjourney is too separate from their own processing system, it’s also too random and not enough control. We’re getting there! The whole GAN dragging the image thing recently is amazing because that’s again exactly what will take AI generative images into the mainstream workflow, because look at how much control you’re getting!

This is great. I played around with it a little and maybe my results weren’t quite as good as yours. I added a person to a early evening photo and it looked like they were in bright sun so it just needs a little more context awareness. Also, it creates noticeable boundary lines when cropping the sky or a low detail area. Very excited about this though!
