I found it interesting that Hasbro wanted DWJ to make new designs but he insisted on doing G1 for the run. Glad to see the book is selling out stores and online, second print is already confirmed.

I’m indifferent but it works for me G1 designs are timeless after all. (for anyone interested DWJ is doing a director commentary on this first issue tonight at 10 EST on his youtube channel)

Reminds me of the first Season of Transformers Prime, where Starscream was the leader of the Decepticons till Megatron came back towards the end

All my Transformers knowledge comes from the 80’s cartoon. The friendship between Jetfire and Starscream was established in the cartoon.

Fun fact, Spike has a brother in the G1 comics named Buster. He also becomes a Headmaster (a process that allows organics to merge with Transformers as their heads) in the series and is partnered with Fortress Maximus

Love how immediately he we have a body count for this universe. It took idw a bit before we had a kill count. Also love how quickly starscream turns on jetfire faster than he did than jetfire debut episode lol

Thanks Joel! It reminded me a lot of the first ten or so issues of the original marvel transformers comic, but with modern storytelling and absolutely KILLER art. It also helps that Starscream is my favorite bot so I always love seeing him actually take command of the decepticons

As someone born in 2009 I am actually so sad I never heard of this until now cause unlike most people born in 2009 I grew up with the G1 cartoon of Transformers watching it with my dad I actually have the G1 movie on DvD and I used to watch it nonstop and to now see that someone is pushing the G1 designs but with a modern updated story that actually works just warms my heart

I really want to see DWJ's take on Lugnut, the character works well with the way he draws action scenes. Though it might take a long time before the non G1 characters appear
