US Wins Deals in Tanzania & Ghana: Should Russia & China be Worried? | Vantage with Palki Sharma

The US has won two deals in Africa this week. In Tanzania, the US will spend $250 million developing a railway line. The line will help connect Angola's Lobito port in the Atlantic ocean to Tanzania's Dar es Salaam port in the Indian ocean. This Lobito corridor will help Washington exploit the mineral wealth in Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Meanwhile, the US also won a contract in Ghana. An American firm will set up a small nuclear plant in Ghana. The US company has beaten Russia to secure the Ghana nuclear contract. The US is expanding its influence in Africa. It is directly challenging China and Russia on the continent. Is this a new Scramble for Africa?

I'm favoured, $27K every week! I can now give back to the locals in my community and also support God's work and the church. God bless America.

Has anyone ever heared Russia or China complain when any country does deals with the US? They are not that insecure. Only the US does that.

1:46 Over the last four years and ongoing, Indian news outlets have repeatedly stated that India is significantly ahead of China, always pushing the narrative 'India wins, China loses.' So what better way to prove this narrative than at the world's largest sporting event (2024 Paris Olympics). It’s the perfect opportunity for India to showcase their country's progress and human development. All of China’s finest athletes will be there, as well as India’s best, competing alongside the world’s greatest at the highest level. The event will be broadcast globally, with eyes focus on India and China as they compete. So, did India easily win as they claimed they would? Of course not—India lost to China 0 - 40 and India lost to Hong Kong, China 0 - 2.

Olympic success is often a reflection of a country's growth and human development. If a nation such as India lacks infrastructure, training facilities, proper nutrition, and access to basic needs like food and water, it will likely perform poorly in the Olympics. Looking at India's very poor performance in the 2024 Olympics, it is now crystal clear that India isn't growing or developing at all, and India's economy is not the 5th largest as they have boasted, but rather closer to their bottom-of-the-ladder Olympic ranking of 71

The US is a joke, here in Tanzania we are building a 10Billion dollar electric Train ...and they are offering 250 Million dollars, are they crazy ?, and China has been given concession to the Tazara Railway to revamp and run the railway from Dar es salaam to Kapir mposhi in Zambia...personally i prefer the Chinese Win-Win the US is a bad actor in Africa.

China has already developed a railway line connecting Angola, Zambia, and Tanzania through Tazara.

Beijing is investing an additional 1 billion dollars in the Tanzania-Zambia railway line, it may be too late for the US.

Not a loss in my opinion, as a developing country you are highly dependent on cooperation with super powers, and if that country is the US, it’s a win for me

Did you research before report. Tanzania is building its own railway for 10 billion USD. And it is near completion before 2030. Yet you're saying that 250m can build railway line so long as that?

250 million to build the railway may sound a lot to build it across the 1300km railway means absolutely nothing at all. Consider this in 2011 the US tried to improve the stretch of a section of railway about 39 km long had a cost of 450 million that was just to improve the speed to 260 km/hr. The problem of building long railway system is not just for the US but even for US allies like Japan. Japan in 2015 promised to build a 1500 km railway system for Vietnam but even then the cost is into 55 billion.
