Gateway zx4970g desktop Screen Blank or Black How to FIX it yourself home repair tips

Nightmare alert! I just couldn't believe the screen went blank, I didn't even do anything wrong! I still don't know why it went black or blank in the first place; I just figure there was too much lent or dust built up.

Here in this video, I try to go through the steps my husband and I took to get our screen back to normal, so I hope you will be able to follow along and that this will help you so that you don't waste money buying another pc.

Pros: Full HD display. HDMI-in. Supports USB 3.0. Wireless keyboard and mouse.

Cons: DirectX 11 graphics tests. Bloatware.

I tried twice using ur method of repair it was a last-ditch effort after I called a couple of computer repair places and try this site called 6ya where I talk to some of the experts who couldn't help. thank God for having two people who took chances and use their knowledge to get something done I'm glad to report my computer is now up and running and running good God bless you 2

y'all just saved my gate way zx6971 was brand new!! i had it sitting up for 8 months to use in my office. went to set it up and nothing tried over and over took it apart and still nothing. i paid 800 for my unit and was gonna sell it to someone for 100 dollars...came across this video and BOOM...im back like i never left...lol Thank you!!!!

I misunderstood. In the end you put the PC back to the way it was.

Did the screen come back on before or after you put the heat sensors with the 4 screws back on?

Right now if I power up the PC I'll hear the CD/DVD drive spin and I'll see the lights come on. The screen is %100 black and doesn't power on. I don't even think it's making the beep it used to. I'm going to give safe mode a try and cross my fingers. But I really think this PC will need a good cleaning. All the fans will need to be blown out. I am confident tho that because of your tutorial that I will get it working again.

I have a problem with my zx4970g gateway, the pc turns on and it listens as if it was going to boot but it goes off strange thing is that the HDMI mode works and I can connect other devices like the xbox one and play perfectly, and verify that the hard disk and the ram are good, so I do not think it is the motherboard since it works as an even screen Gives me the option to choose between HDMI and PC mode....And i acquired another power source since the original was broken the central pin and so my pc was not working enough time, now that I have the new power adapter I can not understand why it does not turn on the pc


someone can help to fix this problem?

Thank you for asking. All seems good with the PC! Usage has been minimal since fixed (too busy with 2 small kids!).
But so far the fix has lasted. I still intend on posting a video and referencing the additional steps I took when doing the repair/fix. I looked into the Bios to see if I could keep the fan running nonstop, however I did not have the option to do so. I did however pick up two "goose neck" USB fans from eBay that I'll plug into the back to provide some extra cooling. I just want to ensure this does not happen again. (And as noted I picked up a replacement fan from eBay or Ali Express, I don't recall which site) Anything a user can do to provide additional cooling I suspect is a good thing.

So I got the PC apart and cleaned. I'll follow the steps from your video tonight. Thank you again for posting your fix. I do have another question tho. When you ran the PC for 10 minutes without the fan and heatsink did you see if the screen came on? Or did you not see til it was all assembled again and then powered on ? I ask because today I will run the PC hot, add thermal paste, then assemble the PC again.

I did not record the process, but I actually want to post and video of the fix for my specific model.
Making note that I got the directions from your video.
All seems good for now which I awesome. All be it I had the PC on for minutes only.
Tomorrow I'll do more thorough testing, and leave the PC running longer.
I want to optimize the power saving settings (to ensure...I HOPE...no further problems).
I think I may just order the fan now to be safe.
My fan was NOT on upon power up....would it come on after 20/30 minutes ? Hard to say.
I'll know more tomorrow.

I was wondering if the computer turned on at all or if it didn't do anything at all when you hit the power button. Did the fan come on when you hit the power button?

i have proved the ac adapter with a tester and everything is ok
I think the problem is with the motherboard
any idea?

also when I connect the ac adapter to the motherboard there a smell like sometihing is burned

dID EVERYTHING IN THE VIDEO, PLUS REMOVED FAN AND BLEW ALL THE DUST AND GRIM OUT. EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING INSIDE BUT THE SCREEN IS STILL BLANK! ANY OTHER IDEAS WOULD BE GREAT.
