Liège-Bastogne-Liège 2021 Preview | Who Will Win The Final Spring Classic Of The Year?

Liège-Bastogne-Liège takes place this Sunday, and draws the curtain on what's been a very memorable spring classics season. This hilly Ardenne classic is actually the oldest of all 5 monuments, and will be a brutal test for the puncheurs and climbers in the bunch! Defending champions, Primož Roglič and Lizzie Deignan, will both be taking the start, and facing some fierce competition! They'll be up against the likes of Alaphilippe, Van Der Breggen, Hirschi, Van Vleuten, and so many more superstars of cycling! For the men, my head says Roglic, my heart says Woods. I think it’ll be a reduced bunch sprint of 6-8 again.

I really struggle with the fawning over Valverde.

In years gone by, Si especially has talked of his distaste of convicted dopers continuing to profit from a sport that they have damaged with their cheating actions. He even once spoke of refusing to buy the book of a retired doper so as not to line the pockets of a man who had lacked respect for the sport whilst actively cheating in competition. Yet there is this ever present gushing over Valverde, who has always refused to accept any responsibility over his part in the Fuentes scandal, and has never shown even a sliver of contrition. DNA evidence from the Puerto investigation had him bang to rights, yet all this adoration.
