I was 18 when this song came out, my best friend had just moved away to university and I remember sitting on the train on the way up to see her listening to it. For some reason it really resonated with me, I was hyper aware of what being a teenager meant and how fragile a time it is and how important a time it is. I remember grieving for my teenage years, even though I was still a teenager. I knew I didn't have long left, everyone was moving away to university, saying goodbye to all of the great times we had had. There's something fundamentally heartbreaking about being a teenager. It's one of those things that adults tell you, "these are the best times of your life" and you never believe them but in retrospect they really are. God, I'm only 22 and acting as if life is over...

Wonderful...i love all your songs so much Tom. It's crazy that 11 years after this work of art, you're still making good music. I was never disappointed. I love each of your albums. I came to the concert at the Zénith in Paris at the beginning of the month and I still can't get over it. It’s the kind of gig you come out of and you’re not the same person. You think about it, you look again at the photos you took, and you only have one thought in mind: when will the next time be I see Tom Odell in concert? So, I took a place for the Palmarosa festival in Montpellier, just to know that I still have a reason to live until August, aha.
I have to thank you for helping me every day. At the moment life is a little hard and fortunately your music is there to comfort me. She makes me feel at home wherever I am. I need this because I don't really know where home is. Thanks to you, it's almost everywhere. As soon as I feel like I'm wavering during the day, that I'm stressed, that I'm going to have an anxiety attack, that I just want to run away, I put on my headphones and I listen to you. It calms me down. I also listen to you in the evening to fall asleep, you really help me overcome my sleep problems. It's precious.
I was on vacation, and this evening I have to leave my small childhood town and return to Paris, where I am studying. I'm terrified because I have important exams and I feel like I'm at the end of my rope and I have school phobia. I know I'm going to screw it up. Above all, I don't like finding myself alone, in my tiny Parisian apartment, in this big city where there aren't the people I love. Fortunately, there will be your music to comfort me. I have so much more to say but I'm going to stop there....anyway I know you'll never read all of that. Yet I still needed to say it.

to the people complaining about those who came due to Dodies recommendation of saying it's "sad", what exactly is sad about it? All of these people are introduced to a truly amazing artist, myself included, who they otherwise never would have come across. I'm not sure how big of an artist he is, but where I come from I'd previously never heard of him, or any of his music at all. But listening to this song his style is unique and beautiful and I truly love it, just as all those who comment that they came here due to Dodie did, and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to be introduced to such an amazing artist. You should be happy that his fan base is growing and he is becoming known to a wider audience, so more people can enjoy the immense talent he possesses :)
