I'm taking my 76yo mother on an 11 day / 10 night Alaskan Princess Cruise, May of 2025. I'm surprising her with the tickets for her birthday in November. It'll be her first cruise, and our first time to Alaska for either of us. This is a dream trip she's wanted to go on for years!! I hope she's happy and that we have a great time. I'm thinking that we will with all of these great tips your channel has graciously put together! 😊 Thank you so much!

Great info for an Alaska cruise. Since the majority of ports on the itinerary will be in the USA, I would also recommend checking if your cell phone service provider is available at the ports you will be visiting. If you are okay with having access to your phone just during those daytime port stops, it may be a way to reduce your trip costs and not get the onboard WiFi package. When the ship leaves port, put it back on airplane mode so there's no surprise charge for remote or roving connections while away from land.

It's a really good point about it really not mattering which side of the ship you book your cabin on. I actually cruised Alaska in an Inside cabin as it was just far too expensive for me to book a balcony, so I spent most of my time wandering around the deck, and felt it was amazing to be mobile on your scenic cruising days - the scenery is all absolutely unbelievable!

A small back pack is great to hold rain gear or that jacket in, when not needed.

I suggest tights for under your jeans. Don't neglect layers for your lower half. I went in May and we had some cold days.

Great video! Finally rescheduled our 2020 Alaska cruise and went in May! Thankfully we’ve been watching you all this time and we were totally prepared. Thanks, Sheri!!!

For a lot of folks Alaska is a big ONE TIME Bucket List Cruise. If it is for you then her comment about Excursions is very very true. Excursions are very expensive but... They are worth it! If you want to Helicopter to Walk on a Glacier or go Dog Sledding, whatever you dream to do in Alaska book your excursion early (sounds crazy but even a year out the good excursions begin filling up) and spend the money! You may never see these things again so go all out!

I just got back from an Alaska cruise. Biggest mistake was going on Norwegian. The port stops were too short and WiFi that was paid for never worked.

Went on One Alaska Cruise with Celebrity on the first week of September and it was amazing. The weather was so perfect that when we got to the glacier the Captain called for all available hands on deck to see how beautiful it was. Yup the crew you never would see came up and was in Aww at how beautiful it was. We did a couple of excursions thru Celebrity and they were ok. When we go back we want to do some things more adventurous. Local restaurants are really stupid crazy expensive. We got off the ship and walked around got some shirts to bring home and went back to the ship. Trust and believe when people say BRING EXTRA SPENDING MONEY because to eat off ship is expensive and excursions are much higher than on Caribbean cruises. ✌🏼

Thank you so much! My mom’s visiting us here in the US and for her 69th birthday, we’re gonna go for Alaskan Cruise. It’s both our first! She has been watching Alaskan Cruise Adventures in youtube and she’s excited she’ll get to experience it IRL. Thank you so much for your informative channel.❤

The Alaskan season has changed a lot. Ships are now sailing April to October. In 2019, I sailed the first week of September and we were the last ship of the season and had 3 out of 4 ports to ourselves. Now that’s still prime time for cruises.

Great tips, Sheri! Especially the one on choosing the right itinerary. This August is our 2nd Alaska cruise. My first was a round trip from Seattle and that limited our time in port. Our stop in Victoria BC was only 3 hours and we arrived at 8 pm. We didn't bother getting off the ship

going on our first Alaskan trip this August. doing land and sea for 14 days (paid for an extra day pre-trip) and going through holiday vacation. This will be our first time on a ship so thank you for the tips. Holiday puts all their guests on a room with a patio so I'm looking forward to that as well.

I pack my silk long underwear. It’s lightweight, easily packable, non bulky & like a second skin. If you get too warm, hit the ladies room, take it off & it stuffs easily into a wee pouch or into a backpack.
I never travel without it in northern climes.

I’m looking forward to getting a great mix of physical activity and chilling out. We’re reviewing excursions now for this Summer.

We cruised 3 times to Alaska. One of the trips was derailed a bit because of an extreme heat wave. It was over 100 for several days and everyone was caught off guard. It was 95 in Victoria! In Juneau, locals were swimming below the Mendenhall glacier! Luckily I packed two lighter outfits.

We’re taking a Viking cruise at the end of July from Seward to Vancouver. We’ve taken Viking before and like the ship size and number of passengers.

Great tip to not assume booking excursions via the ship is the most cost effective! We sometimes book through others (like viator) if the cruise doesn’t have the experience we are longing for - sometimes they are less expensive, more in line with our bucket list, and less crowded!
