I used these tips for my literature external exam and i got 24/25! Thank you for a very helpful video :) Also some additional tips that worked for me for anyone in this comment section (QLD ATAR system):
• be thorough with your planning! It's much more efficient to be confident and know exactly what to write in the first place rather than stalling and trying to edit later (in my experience). Don't be afraid to keep planning even after planning time has ended
• a thesis should be Concise, Coherent, and Contentious (taken from a website). easy to remember and helps a lot
• i made an acronym to remember the literary devices present in my book and wrote them all down at the start of planning time. it helps to do this rather than trying to recall literary devices as you go imo
• in my planning, I listed literary devices, made a mind map of possible arguments and examples from the book, then tried to brainstorm a thesis. Then, after refining my thesis, planned out each argument, making sure they were consistent with the tips in the above video and covered AVBs + themes + text features (the criteria)
• kinda obvious but when using sparknotes and reading analyses of your book online try to take note of unique examples to impress the markers :) no need to worry about finding your own examples tbh i struggled to motivate myself to even read my book lol especially on a time crunch
• self belief is so important for every exam! if you believe you can nail an exam you'll be motivated to study earlier, and even if you procrastinate and mostly study morning of (like me) you'll be in a better headspace on the day. Good luck!
