RDNA 3 REDEFINES AMD's GPU Architecture Strategy & Major Increase in TDP | Alder Lake Release Date

RDNA 3 is set to be quite the change for AMD's graphics card architecture strategy, with chiplets coming into the GPU design instead of a monolithic die. The new RDNA architecture from AMD is apparently very impressive indeed in performance improvements and improvements in things like ray tracing. But, we should also expect a major increase in TDP, or thermal design power. So what does this mean for the high end RDNA 3 graphics cards, and how will they face up against RTX 40 Lovelace GPUs from Nvidia?

We also have a release date for Intel's Alder Lake, which also brings a big change in Intel CPUs with it's big.LITTLE processor architecture. AMD rule the gaming CPU roost right now with Ryzen Zen 3 CPUs, but will Alder Lake be able to bring any competition in price and performance? Rocket Lake failed to make a real splash against Ryzen 3000, but will Intel's Alder Lake be able to?

Ib4 people loose their sht over the possibility of a 330w or greater gpu from AMD despite Nvidia doing worse, while ignoring the massive performance leap over the current 300w 6900xt

Also since the PCIe 6.0 spec will be finalized this year, it's a good chance for AMD to leapfrog Intel again next year.

Threadripper is being announced next month and getting released in august. So AMD has things coming before then.

And yea, if they can do a chiplet arch theres mo reason that they have to limit ot to 2 80cu chiplets. they can increase yields by doing say 4 40cu chiplets, or 8 20cu chiplets.

Special chips? I've had a 5900x and now a 5950X that have multiple cores breaking 5ghz. My 5900X had 8/12 cores that would boost above 5 (with 3 hitting 5.15). My 5950X has 10/16 cores capable of boosting above 5GHz. I also had a 5600X but all cores maxed at

When will these be released? 12 months from now?

ryzen 5000 5800x and up can do 5ghz easy with a mere auto oc +200. they use a rediculously low voltage before that, but also run slower. 4850mhz for 5800x before that but only like ~1.43 on the single core boist voltage. 3000 series use ~1.48v for that single core. setting the +200 puts 5000 series at the same setting but it actually gives you that extra 200mhz.

I follow ALL your videos. Thank you! I also appreciate your humor :-)

Noticing you lean toward the British English method of treating collections (like companies) as plural, as opposed to the American way of treating them as singular. Makes sense, given you are British :-) I see the logic in both methods, so not throwing moral or evaluatory judgements your way!

I DO want to share my perspective. Oh and I'm not an American patriot, heh. What I am is a software developer, so maybe logic influences me disproportionately?

What sort of logical argument could I make for naming collections (groups) singularly? My primary reasons include consistency and clarity. Why do we group variables (think coding), people, cultures, companies, layers (think Photoshop), etc. under one name? I believe usually this is for efficiency. It's a lot easier to group a set by some characteristic like if you want to refer to 1, 000 separate variables in a list or array and do some operation on the GROUP vs all 1, 000. Or think group of marbles. We refer to the group as "it" not "them, " right? But hey if you Brits would refer to a group of marbles as a "them, " please share.

Similarly, with companies, no one wants to refer to every employee that makes up that company every time we refer to it. Notice, I'm using the singular here? I refer to companies that way because the fact that it is a GROUP of individuals is assumed. Referring to a company as "them" instead of "it" contradicts the many other ways we treat entities in terms of singular or plural. I'm eager to hear your thoughts on this!
