Walk with Christ to the Mount of Temptation where he was tempted by the Devil. This scene offers much wisdom for the spiritual aspirant, for it is perhaps one of the only moments in the bible when Christ has to perform sadhana and tapasya. His example helps us see how we too can overcome challenges.
First the Devil tempts him to use power to fulfil selfish ends. Then, he tries to influence Jesus by false reasoning, proving the saying that "even the Devil can quote scripture." And lastly, he tempts Jesus by promising dominion over the material world, if he just bows down before it.
Now, the site of the temptation is a sacred monastery, where the vibrations of Christ's triumph remain.
