The Tefal has a fixed temp of 338F...not 400 as mentioned in the video...and the Philips was cooked at 350F. Therefore the Tefal chips were a little undercooked in 15 minutes. It just needed a few more minutes of cooking time. Knowing the cooking Temp of the Tefal, my chips turn out perfectly...crispy on the outside and perfect inside...it's all a matter of time...and these ones in the video were not given the correct cooking time for the Tefal unit.

If the Tefal chips are undercooked, then why didn't you put them in for a few minutes longer? Instead of evaluating how good the product was you instead evaluated how accurate the recipe instructions were and that is not useful to those deciding on which product is best.

I love the way you mentioned the clean up, which is most important when purchasing kitchen appliances.

I've been using T-fal for more than 3years and still working great.

When the manufacturer states the preparation time of 30-32min (Tefal) how can you do the test 15min ??? This is not a fair test, it's like comparing gasoline diesel engines, everyone has different time on the road, this test is a visible advertisement to Philips.

Finally, a cooking video that doesn't make me hungry.

The Philips doesn't rotate the contents so you have to keep doing it manually! The Tefal does, surely the Tefal is better if the correct settings are applied?

I have found the easiest way to clean the Phillips is to absorb the excess oil on tissue, fill both pieces with hot soapy water while I eat. Then use a dish brush to scrub both pieces. The brush is especially efficient cleaning the mesh. The thing about the Phillips that I don’t like is the white smoke that comes out the back when doing pieces of chicken etc. I trim all fat possible and drain excess fat during cooking. Anyone else have this problem? I have found that by putting pieces of bread in the bottom of the fryer helps this problem. Otherwise this is a very good machine that I use often.

I was looking up ways to use my Actifry I got as a gift, and came here out of curiosity. This left me rather confused, because my unit does amazing batches of fries in 20-25 minutes. 15 isn't nearly enough for this unit simply because of the way it cooks, I could tell immediately when I saw that this wasn't going to work out and be an unfair result

Well well well, I have my Tefal deep fryer for 35 years and it s still running well and easy to clean. None of my fries are oily if you know how to proceed.

I have a Tefal and a Philips. Philips is better for fries, but you cannot beat the Tefal for being able to make awesome fried rice or other pot type recipes.

I like my T-Ful, the paddle for stir fried vegetables is the best . I cooked cauliflower ad mushrooms . The paddle can be removed if you wish when you cook the fish and meat or put the paddle back in the middle of the cooking depends on food. The cooking time for the fries should be more than 15min on T-ful. The comparison between these 2 units unfairly. The lid, paddle, air filter are easily be removed and easy to wash or toss in dishwasher. I love my T-Ful after being search and read all the reviews, I decided T-Ful.

Great review. My only comment would be that if u cook the sweet potato fries in the actifry for a bit longer they will come out the same! And for those 5(?) extra minutes u also get a few more functions with the actifry which isnt discussed in thei review. The difference between the 2 appliances is that 1 is a 'static' fan assisted grill (that u cant see as its cooking) and the other is a 'constantly moving' fan assisted fryer which means u can also cook veg stirfrys, curries, bolognaise and anything that u can cook on a stove top...ASWELL as its function as a fan assisted fryer. So anything that u can cook under a grill u can cook in an airfryer and anything u can cook on a stove AND under a grill u can cook in the actifry. I hope this helps someone make the distinction between the 2 appliances 💖

Dear Flo and husband, I have a tip to pass on: I use a cotton cloth called a "Euroscrubby" for cleaning my Phillips Airfryer (and non - stick frying pans) and it's brilliant at getting all the baked - on gunk off them, without damaging the surface.
Cheers from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia
P.S. I love your videos, keep up the good work 👏 ❤

I have two air fryers, a Phillips XL and a Farberware. They both cook close to the same amount of time, the Phillips XL slightly faster. I do like the basket design better on the Phillips XL, it slides out like a kitchen drawer and then you lift out only the basket, I also purchased the grill pan basket which is good for steaks ect. As for the cookbook manuals, I usually cook higher temperature than they say. The Phillips XL only goes to 390 and that is the temp I use on most foods. For example, cut up floured chicken wings, 20-22 minutes at 390 in the Phillips XL flipping at at 18 minutes. Now that's for my desired doneness, other may prefer more or less.

I have both, and they are used differently. When cooking large quantity of fries, the T-Fal is better as the fries are moved around by the paddle, set it and forget it. But the Phillips I have to open it up multiple times and shake to ensure even cooking, or cook the fries in two separate batches. Your comparison of just one sweet potato in each is what most families will use. The Philips is better for doing veggies

But no one mentioned the noise factor?
One sounds like a microwave running, quiet. Philips
The other sound like a vacuum cleaner, loud. T-Fal

What did you base your choice on as I see it if you had cooked the fries longer in the T-Fal they could have been crisper they were just under cooked so what made you choose Philips
