I'm a gringa born and raised in LAREDO TEXAS. Have lived with and loved this music all my life. Talk about someone being privileged, WOW! I have had the best and worst of both worlds and I wouldn't trade it for all the tea in China. The mix of both cultures and languages is so fun. Be happy people wherever you are life is too short. No te ahogues en un vaso de agua😊

I'm an old woman whose family came here to Texas in 1700s when Mexico was giving away land if you'd clear it. I'm 6th generation Texan still waiting for 7th (one's on the way!) they became dual citizens of US & Mexico. I have always felt that history. I live in a barrio now & love it here. I would hate the subdivisions. Viva USA 🇺🇸 Viva Mexico. 🇲🇽 to me they are so related. I love seeing how these guys shared their cultures & melded them. They were such Texas Icons. Now THAT'S TEXAS!

Freddy was my neighbor. You would see him walking his little dog around the block, stopping to talk with neighbors along the way. My Mother knew him pretty well and she would have long conversations with him. He was always so gracious.on a few occasions, i would take an evening stroll to the nearby convenience store and Freddy and his family and friends would be socializing in his backyard. And i would hear them play and sing; sometimes seemingly improvising. It always sounded beautiful and they seemed to be having a great time. And those melodies would stay with me on my walk to the store.
May you rest in peace, Freddy. ❤

I met my wife in Serbia. She loves this kind of Texas music. Flaco, Freddy and all. I remember the Longhorn Ice House on Blanco Rd. Where they would sometimes hang out

I miss AM Radio in South Texas. I never knew if I was listening to Czech, German, Cajun or Tejano music.
