Scorpion EXO-AT950 Helmet

Bringing together the best of 2 worlds, the Scorpion EXO-AT950 is a motorcycle helmet that lives in a realm that is occupied by very few others. As a modular, dual-sport motorcycle helmet, the EXO-AT950 provides riders with a level of functionality that has previously been incredibly difficult to come by. The Scorpion AT950 is constructed of an advanced LG Polycarbonate shell that reduces weight and maximizes impact displacement in the event of a crash. At the same time, the ability to lift the chin bar when stopped is a great benefit to get some air, ask directions, or chow down on some snacks without needing to remove your helmet entirely. Additionally, the goggle-ready eye ports and removable peak work to make the EXO-AT950 ready to combat the dirt and roost that comes with taking the bike off road. In the end, the idea of modular helmets and ADV / Dual Sport helmets are nothing new. However, with the EXO-AT950, Scorpion has brought them together for the first time in a moderately-priced option for riders who want it all.

All these people complaining about him talking too fast?! I find it perfectly fine as he doesn't waste time pausing and gets to the point. Listen people!

I'm really impressed with mine. I have had my 1290 Super Adventure up to 120MPH with the visor on and no head wobble or noticeable drag. (I was in gusting high winds as well). Works well with the Sena 20S and although it could be quieter, I'm not that big of a baby...This helmet is nice. I have tried a Schuberth on and I'll admit there is a difference. The E1 is an amazing brain bucket. But not a $550 difference. In other words, I got a Scorpion for me and my wife for less than the price of 1 Schuberth. Revzilla is an awesome company and really appreciate their reviews of the products they sell.

I've got a black version, ride it in scorching heat of middle east deserts and I still cannot believe how well ventilated this helmet is even with the top vent closed. When you stop and it gets a little warmer, ride with chinbar/visor up for a minute, all dry and cosy, close down and be done with it. I'm notoriously picky with helmets due to pressure points and so on, I can ride in this for hours before starting to feel like I need to take it off for a few mins. I ride a dual sport so wind protection on the bike is nonexistent. 100-120kmh in this is no issue but for anything more than that I'd probably take the sunpeak off. Honestly, I think it's a great bucket.

If you say the venting can be upgraded then you've never tried this helmet. This is by far the best ventilated helmet I've tried. Opening the top vent immediately makes you feel the air flow on top of your scalp. Same goes for the chin vent.

I daily this helmet on a supermoto, amazing helmet with a ton of features for the price. The only complain I have about this is you have to adjust the boom for your headset if you have one so it doesn't snatch the modular chin bar when you flip it up. Another thing is the fogging in cold weather at a stand still and the noise. The tinted shield works well both during the day and night but I gotta say the fogging gets me when you ride in the cold and stopped at a light or something. But overall amazing helmet for the buy.

Really nice helmet and a great review. Love how you tell us what you don't really like about the helmet or aka it's flaws.

I just ordered one (At 950 Outrigger) I ride a mix of about 80% off road / 20% on road, and having to wear glasses the modular design just makes my life much easier... Hopefully the fit is comfortable... my head is a 56 so I ordered a small :)

Every time this guy starts a video, he startles me. Its like jumping from behind a curtain in your home while watching Psycho at 2a.m. and trying to sell you a helmet. 🤣😂😎👍

I thought this video was sped up at first. But I like it...fast and to the point.

As I understand it, most modular helmets are NOT dual homologated, as in it’s not safe to ride with the chin bar up.
Some helmets are so it’s ok to ride with it up.
If it’s not, then the point is cooling at stop light, or most important, being able to flip it up and speak to someone . A huge help in some situations .

I bought this helmet back in September (2016) and love it. I had the GMax 54S prior, and the Scorpion includes everything the GMax has, but brought more to the table and overall has better fit and finish (closes better, fitment is better, visor seals better, etc.).
I will disagree with Anthony however, while they claim the inner visor is "fog resistant", it fogs up horribly below 40F. If I have the balaclava over my nose and I'm riding on the freeway it's fine, but when I slow in city traffic I have to make sure I crack the shield or raise the inner visor. Admittedly, the GMax did this too, but I honestly don't think it was as bad. Again, comparing to the GMax, the inner sun visor is one of my favorite helmet features, but the GMax sun visor was tinted similar to my everyday sunglasses, while unfortunately the Scorpion sun visor could stand to be a few shades darker; to the point I've debated investing in a tinted visor, which seems dumb, considering.
The outer visor is truly "fog resistant", however it loses that fight once it starts raining. I've battled the elements with the visor cracked several times now, which naturally means I have water on the inside and outside of the shield unfortunately. That said, there are 2 options for dual pane visors available for this helmet (Pinlock or permanent dual pane, both at RevZilla).
I will agree with Anthony here about the "peak" visor, the ability to remove it is basically what sold me on this helmet over the ICON Variant (despite how bad I wanted to look like the Master Chief). Riding for a long duration above 65MPH without a windscreen on the bike does get tiring. You don't actually feel the peak visor "grabbing" the wind unless you're doing a lane change head check, but you do feel the buffeting of high speed exacerbated by the peak visor. Thus, per my comment below, I just pop on the side shields and toss the peak in my tail bag until I get to the trails or twisties.
Like I said, overall, totally a better helmet than my budget Gmax, definitely worth the extra investment.

Hey Anthony, Were you in AM radio in the 50's? Maybe one less coffee in the morning.

I bought this helmet and in less than a week the rubber trim strip along the bottom/back of the helmet came loose. It tries to catch on everything, it's exposed to stress every time you put on and take off the helmet, and the glue that holds it in place is absurdly weak. In the end, I removed it completely and left it off. I did a lot of research and saw rave reviews before I bought this helmet. I really expected a higher level of build quality than to have trim pieces falling off immediately. I'm still rocking it today, so everything else seems fine.

1:29 - "The flip-up chin bar is really personal preference. Some people love that. I don't necessarily ride that way."

It's not about riding with the chin bar up. We want a modular helmet for the unmatched convenience and freedom it provides us while still maintaining a much better degree of safety than an open-faced helmet can provide. We can take a drink of water on the fly, communicate with others at red lights, scratch an itch, spit on the road, get rid of a bug or wasp that finds it's way in, do a quick vape, pop in a piece of gum, whistle at a pretty girl, or just catch a quick breeze. You can quickly flip up the lid, take care of "business", and then drop it back down. After riding for 40 years while either, risking my safety in open-faced helmets, or feeling confined inside of regular full-faced helmets, I went to modular helmets about 10 years ago and never looked back. They truly are the best of both worlds.
