It is not hard to understand that - a long-range - high endurance drone armed with a sophisticated air-to-ground weapon with a decent strike envelope, could be a formidable combo.

This is exactly what is being conceptualized.

A new plan for utilizing the MQ-9B SkyGuardian drone has been revealed by General Atomics. According to the proposal, the drone could be utilized as a launch pad for U.S.-Norwegian Joint Strike Missile or JSM.

This would be an interesting arrangement.

The MQ/RQ-9 has an RCS of a jumbo jet. They can be shot down by anyone who has a functional radar. That is why we use similar systems against insurgents only. There are better options to use against ships and high end assets.

Thats an interesting and very lethal potential upgrade for the MQ-9 but ultimately wasted
The better option would it carrying Mk-46, MK-54 or MU-90 torpedo. That would make it very potent asset for ASW especially give the lighter weight of the torpedos would make taking off from LHA/D much easier
