They are passengers on a space shuttle thing traveling to a new planet to make it a home. There’s like thousands of people with them and they were all in hyper sleep, but the man in black (Jim) woke up due to a pod malfunction bc of the ship. Because of his desire and he kinda fell in love with her while she was asleep, he woke the woman up and lied and told her the pod malfunctioned for her too. She’s mad bc they were supposed to sleep the entire journey which is like hundreds of years but bc he woke her up, she will die before they make it to the new world. It’s rlly good y’all should watch it.

context:

this movie’s name is called passengers. basically, a bunch of people are on a space ship to go to another planet since this is set in the future, where earth can no longer be lives on. the people are “hibernating” for about 70-90 years since it takes that long to get to the pilot. jim woke up by accident and has been alone for a little more than a year. he couldn’t stand being alone, (the bartender is a robot) so he decided to do something to the machine where aurora (the girl) sleeps in, basically waking her up. jim never told aurora he woke her up. in this scene, jim was about to propose to her. the reason aurora was so shocked is because jim waking her up is basically murdering her. they have 90 years to go, and when you wake up, you age. jim basically killed her by old age by waking her up.

For anyone confused they are on a ship that’s taking them to a planet and they were in these things that made them sleep the whole time because the trip took like 5 yrs. Anyways his thing had a malfunction so he woke up and he was lonely so he went back to the room where all the things are and found her and instantly fell in luv with her so he woke her up and then it was a malfunction
