NEVER buy a used BMW with more than 70, 000 miles (110, 000 km) on the clock that hasn't had its timing chain replaced. Always demand to see proof if the seller says it has.

This is crazy to do at 75k and an incredible amount of work.

Yeah, I can see this is one of those jobs I would never attempt to do myself because of all the special equipment that is needed and because it is just a little bit beyond my level of ability and expertise. I guess sadly, I'm going to have to pay for this one.

Toyota's engines have a drive chain that doesn't need to be changed. Regular maintenance is the key of a life time duration of chain.

This is just very poor quality parts from BMW. It shouldn’t have failed at 70k.

I took my car to a specialist as it wouldn't start, the saud it was the Crank sensor, after having that changed it still won't start, now they're saying it's the timing chain qnd it's 11 hours labour, is this excessive? Not sure of the engine name but it's a 2008 e92 coupe 2 litre
