Hey Andi I downloaded your Reaper configuration and it's amazing. It has all the functions I've been looking for, like mouse wheel fader control and lasso selection. Thanks!

This was an incredibly well-produced and informative video. I've been using reaper for about 6 months now, but managed to learn at least 10 new things I was not aware this amazing software could do.
I can tell that you are a true professional by how clearly you explained everything. I found it very helpful when you would zoom in on specific functions, such as showing what hotkeys you were using. Thank you so much for making this.

I would mention the lack of macros as a con as well, regardless, best DAW ever...

Very good and researched review. And I agree 100% with your concluding remark.

Thank you for nice video, explaining many aspects!
For MIDI-tracks seem to work best the FL Studio,
but it has uncomfortable interface (in my opinion).

So I know that this video is a lil'bit old, and I appreciate/repect the effort to do it. I switched to Reaper too 3 years ago. Nothing to say about your PROS but concerning the CONS, not to say any kinda of truth/wrong about it but just to say that, n most of the cases, and it might be a CONS and A PRO, by scripting (LUA, Reascript or something....), you can go beyond existing commands. Fro example, the CONS that were exposed in the video :
01:02 no swing in main window (arrangement view) : you can do it, the way you want by scripting or you can ask someone in the appropriated forum (Reaper formus...) to build a tool to suite your workflow...And they are very kind I can tell you!!!
06:06 no built-in way to listen to the presets from the VSTi from the browser : for this we can considerate that, depending on the number of VSTi you have, you can build a template track easily and stack 10-20 or 30 of your synths and activating the one you want to listen or build a folder containing the tarcks containing the VSTi you have and solo the one you want to hear. Other tricks can be apply....
07:48 hot-keys are not working in the open windows : now you can contextual commands depending on the mouse cursor context or you ca use the contextual toolbars too...
08:18 uncomfortable defining of tempo of the complex audio files : check the last updates....
09:23 huge capabilities and huge manual is time hog : it can be a true CONS and the MUST of this DAW is inevitably ...CUSTOmISATION!! Reaper can be used as it come, where I started but with a pretty big effort in customisation you get back A LOT!!! Believe me : the last DAW I tried is Studio One and I still keep a look on S1 but every time I try the updates in S1 (until 3.1.1) I go back to Reaper thinking that it's not the "big
I've finished some 90-120 tarcks mix with Reaper where S1 drove me into a messy mix because in V2.xx S1 did not have a good workflow to deal with big mixes like this : the mixer was not mirroring the arrnagement and I started to bang my head in the wall the I switched to Reaper because a friend show me (and I saw...) how easy it can be and I experienced it myself...I finished my busy mixes cool and relax with Reaper thanks to the Snapshot tools, the screensets and the customisation...For example the "0" (zero on number pad...) allow me to mute a track (or selected tracks..one or more), mute an (or several) item (audio/midi), mute a (or several...) MIDI notes in the pinao roll
The "R", allows me to record starting at the edit position, bypasses the Fx, arms the track for recording, sets the volume to 0db and PAN to center. If the mouse cursor is in a time selection, it switches the record mode to PUNCH IN/OUT the time selection, if the mouse cursor overs an ITEM, it switches to PUNCH IN/OUT to ITEM.
Google for Grouping tracks, there's a user called Reno Mellow on Utube just to see how deep you can go with this DAW : it's simply amazing.
I'm must confess that I prefer, but maybe it's psychologic mastering my work with Samplitude, but to arrange, mix and do the creative work I have a Reaper session opened!!!
The big CONS I see is the custom way because everybody, including me are not programmers and it can be a difficult time to pass and most of the time people turn around and go away from Reaper and I understand that it took me 2-3 months to get my workflow right the way I wanted because it demands you to re-think the way you work back to the really ground I'm 42 and I had to do it. It's a big step but I can tell you with Reaper I'm not afraid anymore (lol)!!!

Andi. How did you make that tool bar on the left for inserting individual VST's? Cool stuff

Can reaper use automations for wobbles, pitch, volume, pan, and all that fun stuff?

Hey Andi, great video as allways! But I can't get my head around how to add the icons visible on the media items, (M) (FX) and (Gain knob) that is visible at 18:23. And how to change this rows color, to black, for example, for better visibility. Mine is transparent. I cant find anything on the net or in the manual. Thanks

How do you use multiple items on the same track (at 16:44)? It would really help since I like to keep MIDI items separate but I don't want to have multiple tracks for each one of them.
