Corrosion resistance, likely. It’s a structural member and may not be inspected for decades if ever. Spilled coffee, sloppy winters, etc. salt and water on floorboards cannot just be allowed to rot out like on older vehicles. Also reduces galvanic corrosion. All those brackets could be cast in the future as well, if the elongation specs can meet crash condition.

So glad that Cory convinced Sandy to do a YouTube channel. Great content and Cory is taking it to the next level. Without this channel we would never know/appreciate the innovation Tesla is bringing to the auto industry.

Dude(s), as a long time frustrated engineer, what you are sharing is just gold. I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I hope you guys sells tons of reports. Any company that ignores your findings and recommendations are doomed to obscurity.

What you will find with highly intelligent professionals is the capacity to continuously doubt themselves. Good tear down and best explanations ever by team Monroe on this tear-down, you guys got so much additional flow. I really look forward for what's the next stage.

I loved it! You can really tell how much more confidance these guys have got to be in front of the camera. The videos looks more structured and well writen. It show how theirs skills are improving from the first series. I'm a big Carl's fan and I believe that since he came on board his well strucutred and rithmic way of presenting the findings has spread to other members like Jordan, Sue, Corey and others.
It's also a good idea to put Corey in the role of presentator and add to him a "knowledge" person. That way the video looks like a typical conversation between 2 technical savvy persons that goes back and forth and it's more entertaining and promote short interventions from the participants. That's a clever way to maintain rithm and to keep the tech guys calm and centered on the explanation not on how the video is comming out.

Geez I love this content! Thanks for taking the time to define acronyms, too; big help for this interested layperson. Going from Munro team analysis of Teslas to Ian Tyrell's going through Miura's, etc. really is automotive heaven. Much appreciated.

This is the best company promotion and advertising in the industry.

Can also, depending on the coating help with limiting voltage leakage. Hence the writing Hipot and date on the pack. It passed a hipot test.

Man, you guys are on a tear!!!! Thanks!! That carrier you mentioned at the 12:58 point, it's almost like they are treating the back of the battery pack like a front door in the model 3.

Absolutely Facisnating! Really love this tear-down series. Tesla is so innovative - it's amazing how fast they are able to make these changes.

OK, just some basic feedback from a layman Tesla 2021 model Y owner/fanboy: That was a really great and subtle pitch at the end. It is a good reminder for us that these videos aren't just for us. Still, you guys have to balance the entertainment value with the engineering education to keep us coming back. This is the 3rd 2022 model Y teardown video. The 1st was exciting and covered all the bases. The 2nd one was a snoozer and I went away and couldn't think of anything I learned. This one was good because of the dramatic changes to that housing (penthouse) and the seat mounts. Can't wait to go into the penthouse changes. Personally, I like to hear about things getting lighter. I have another model Y on order and I was hoping it would be ~400 lbs. lighter and, so far, it seems like I'm only losing ~150 lbs. I want to understand why that is. The gigacastings and structural pack with 4680s alone should account for the 400 lbs. or so I thought. Maybe the steel cans on the 4680s are super heavy idk. Overall great job on this episode Corey.
