Generational Watches - My Plan

I share my thoughts about the watches I will give to my children one day. I love the idea of generational watches that our posterity will be able to use as a sentimental token or in some cases a hot commodity. Even if we are a little selfish as watch fans, one day our watches may benefit the next generation. What do you guys think? #heirloomwatches

from Japan.
Nice to meet you.
My son is  9years old.
When he was a baby, he bit the G-SHOCK and chipped the glass.
I was very....happy!!!!And I hid my Omega.

Your GMT is a true heirloom BUT (!) nothing will replace the memories as I’m sure you know. My daughter is my life man, it’s a blessing from God.

My son (20yrs old) and I share watches, which is fun...mostly he borrows whatever I'm not wearing. At first when you were sharing your plan, I thought you would be much better off investing that money but then I realized you can't hold and enjoy an investment. Great honest & realistic plan Bruce :)

I love those tiny hands holding that big orange Monster, so cute. Great input Bruce. I have 2 kids, each one will get a Rolex and split the rest.

Excellent thought Bruce...I totally concur with you that yes we buy it for us to enjoy it but in the back of our mind the objective is to pass it down...Your daughters are very fortunate to have a father like me...this makes me think tat I need to start doing something for my daughter as

If you look at those lists of children's watches online, the Timex Marlin never comes up. However, what surprised was just how well the Marlin can work as a child's watch. That's a fantastic choice and I never would have thought of it if it were not for this video. In addition, I very much enjoy your almost selfless attitude about your watches and using them as heirloom pieces. Please keep up the awesome work with this channel.

I feel the same, I only have 1 daughter and they are different when grown. My daughter does not wear a watch so much for telling time but for the pretty bracelet that it’s on. Infact she wears a watch that does not work but is on a nice colorful band she loves. I did not start her off at a early age so maybe your kids seeing your passion will inherit that trait, hope they do. Mine could care less if it costs 20 bucks or 20, 000. I am encouraging my grandson to like watches more but he is 5. Loves the Legos and trucks. Garbage trucks.. O
Kids are like us in that some will gravitate to be watch collectors and others will never own more than 2 if that.
I still like looking, lol. Stay with it.

The whole reason I got into watches is because my father gave me a seiko diver when I was about 7 years old. It looked like a SKX013 but it was quartz instead of automatic. I remember loving that watch so much.

It’s a nice sentiment. You can endulge your passion for a period and when the time comes they can get a financial windfall when the time comes ..

We have a Lange Pocketwatch from 1927, that has been passed down in my family to all the family members that became doctors. Before I got into med school I bought myself a nice Guinand chronograph to enjoy during my studies. I plan on passing that down to any family member down the line, who also starts studying medicine so they too have a nice watch in university.

Let's just hope our kids appreciate what we pass on to them

My three kids already each have an education savings plan set up so I am not concerned with giving them a chunk of money when they get older. My two elder daughters, who are 9 and 5, love my pandas. The elder one has already said she wants my Seiko 6138-8020. Not to be out done, the 5 year old wants my Seiko 7a28 reverse panda. For my son, who is 2, I bought his birth year and month Seiko Sarb035 when he was born. They'll get their respective watches when they graduate high school.

I sold my Omega when I realized that I was a mid-tier kind of watch guy, and will probably never own anything more expensive than an Oris or Sinn. Alas, none of my kids has caught the watch bug, but they ever did express an interest, I'd spring for an 009 or Sumo, which I consider outstanding watches.

I'm only 21 and you made me daydream about being a dad. So whatever you are doing I think you're right.

Now that's a righteous way to think about it:)
