Say it once again for the people in the back: “There’s no rules, you can do whatever you want” ✨💚 this is what’s fun about hobbies, don’t take it away from us.

Love the disclaimer!
How much more peaceful would the Internet be if we actually adopted a "this is *descriptive* of my experience, not *prescriptive* for anyone else; take what's useful, leave the rest" approach..?
Thank you for sharing what you've learned 🙏🏽

Hi Fern, I don’t have any moss poles and probably won’t ever have any, but I’d never miss one of your videos. 🪴

I love the look of your florida ghost hanging up high - it's a show stopper and deserves to be highlighted like that, just wow!

Fern My moss poles are like your wire ones but 5-6 feet tall and I take a 1/2” PVC pipe and drill 6-8 tiny holes in the pipe and then put my moss on the wire around the pole. Then I water down the pole. When we went on a cruise last summer I was gone 10 days with my poles out in the Texas summer heat and they did amazing. The pipes slowly release the water through the holes for about 10-12 days saving me having to water as much. I teach moss pole making with this technique. Best wishes. 💚💚💚

i knit as well at taking care of plants, so whenever a wooden knitting needle breaks i use it as a stake for a small plant, sometimes i wrap moss around it with yarn and it’s a nice way of having very minimal space taken up but still give it some stability, my apartment is so small i cant do moss poles, but yours look so great i neeed to use some :)

Having your Florida ghost floating off your shelf in the background (which I never noticed until this video tbf) IS A WHOLE MOOD. What an awesome idea!!

Always smile when you talk about how expensive spagnum moss is because I live in N Z and we can just drive a couple of miles out of town and pick our own. Wish I could send you some.

"There's no rules, you can do whatever you want." Yes!

learning so much. I would describe the plank look as the farmhouse aesthetic. A pipe would be industrial. I think a literal branch would look cool which is more fairy core and foresty, which is my aesthetic

I put a bunch of begonia cuttings in a clear, glass teapot with perlite at the bottom. Such a low maintenance way to have a begonia and looks cute af

True, there are no rules to what kind of moss pole you use. I am currently using a long stick fallen from a tree to grow my Piper - Crocatum at the moment. I have attached it with plant clips. I also have a small Philodendron - Tortem. Thanks for the tip of growing it on a bamboo pole. Love the old moss pole video clip. Shows the evolution of moss poling and the Fern look!!! 🥰

aww shout out to past Fern! I like this video 💕 reflecting on mistakes is very helpful for us! Funny how I've been watching for so long, I didn't even realize what you used to do with moss poles! Wrapping the cuttings around 😅

A fun project is to actually find a nice tree branch outside, around 60cm or higher, a bit sturdy and just take it home, bleach clean it and add wood varnish and then top it off with
high-gloss wood lacquer. And use that bad boy as a pole for your plants. The more wonky the more fun way for plants to grow!

This is so helpful. Omg you really told us so much value about these pole so we have a smooth road forward. I thank you so much. Wish we lived closer as I could give you some cutting to say thank you for your time. I’m in Ontario. Cheers!

I agree with you. It is so hard to say it’s a one size fits all thing!
