Families are grieving the loss of two men who died after their vehicles were swept away in fast-moving flood waters on Vancouver Island's Sarita River — due to heavy rains from the ongoing atmospheric river.

Port Alberni RCMP said the bodies of the two men, who were reported missing over the weekend in the Bamfield, B.C., area, have now been found.

But as Global's Kylie Stanton reports, there are ongoing questions about the road they were on.

Drowning in your car/ truck- thinking you're not going to leave the earth under circumstances as this. He was going to vote, celebrate a birthday- plan a trip
Gone- is all that describes it now.

Why is safety everyone else's responsibility. If a tree falls on me in the forest, should we ban everyone from going into the woods? Why does someone sitting in an office need to make a call so I dont drive down a road? My condolences to the victims of nature. Very unfortunate timing to be there.

Sad to hear this, I know that I cancel plans if a trip is dodgy and the weather close behind.

Sad that all of the carbon tax in the world couldn't prevent this.

I just don't know why people risk going out when the weather is forecast to be that bad. It's unfortunate. Check the forecast a few days ahead, in the morning before you leave for school, work, an appointment or play. Then check it while you're out to ensure you don't get caught in weather that you're not prepared for. Never walk or drive or swim into a flooded area as you don't know how deep it is, what debris or contaminants are in it, or where open manhole covers or other sinkholes are. It's also a great idea to have a survival kit and a full change of clothes and boots in the car. Of course a kit probably wouldn't have helped in this case, but it might in other situations.

Wonder what they were doing to have been swept off the road.
