The UK has a sugar tax, the sugar free sodas are cheaper than the sugary variety. It all helps to discourage drinking so much sugar. The food in the UK has very stringent regulations in place. Try checking what ingredients are in McDonalds french fries in the UK and then the same product in the US, it’s shocking. The American Fanta also has colour additives that are banned in the UK.

I specifically requested an orange Fanta when my in-laws went to the UK. I have never liked orange Fanta but the ones made in Europe are so good. It doesn’t have an artificial orange taste and it’s really refreshing

Biggest difference: Fanta in the US has absolutely no orange juice at all, just water, sugar and chemicals.
Fanta in Europe has real orange juice in it.

Italian Fanta have 12% orange juice, and due to that, it’s simply labeled as "Fanta soda" because it doesn’t meet the criteria to be called "orange soda, " which requires a minimum of 20% orange juice. If you're looking to try something a bit different, I highly recommend checking out Italian San Pellegrino orange soda in a glass bottle. It really is a delightful experience! French Orangina is another fantastic option to explore. Also, it's interesting to note that the calorie counts for sodas may vary between the US and EU, largely due to the use of high fructose corn syrup in American beverages.

the eu one has actual orange juice in it and thats were a non trivial amount of the sugar comes from. the us version however is completely artificial no orange was used in the production. like yes the eus version still has added sugar but tye problem is not sugar in general its empty sugars without nutrients and the eu one has the nutrients of an orange juice. the bettwr choice is still water but nothing is healthier than water.

The European Fanta is also made of real sugar, whereas the American one is made of corn syrup.

When young i used to get Soda and Chips delivered to our house. The soda came in glass bottles and in plastic case. The chips came in bags inside a buckets. The orange soda was orange like western Fanta.

Also let's not forget the fact that US Fanta specifically states it doesn't contain any actual orange juice, while many EU countries have laws about the minimum amount of orange juice in orange sodas.

When you drink orange Fanta in Europe, you feel rehydrated and refreshed… in America, I get a headache and still thirsty

okay but the neon orange triggers the same instinctual response in me as bright colours on venomous animals do

Not sure if the word healthy should be in the same sentence with the word Fanta but at least European Fanta is way less unhealthy as us Fanta…
But this counts for all our drinks, when I remember right this corn Sirup you use in most of your drinks is not even allowed in Europe to use cuz it’s in question if this is carcinogenic…
But not completely sure if it was this stuff or if I mixed this up with another stuff…

In the UK Fanta will have per 500ml bottle? 25g of sugar because of a sugar tax on the company not the consumer so it lowers the amount and sugar free? Is actually sugar free using artificial sweeteners and no sugar at all

Every fizzy drink thats available in both is better in Europe simply due to them using real sugar instead of fructose corn syrup which leaves a horrible taste in your mouth and a weird coating which you then have to drink water to clear.
