That stuffed creature on the table is nightmare material...
Great review!

Pretty much on the same page with this one. I gave it an 8/10 however. I think the depth of rules to depth of gameplay ratio is very strong. I also do not feel there is much else in this weight class by way of area control, especially at 2P. The amount of gameplay that you manage to get in in under 20min is pretty great as well. It absolutely meets and exceeds its design goals. I feel what stops me from giving it a 9 or more would be exactly as you mentioned, it certainly starts to feel the same with repeated plays. However that just makes it a perfect filler or gateway. Another solid review sir.

95% of my games are played 2P and we love this game, as well as Mandala from the same designers. Great review.

Great stuff as always Luke. This is a fun and simple 2 player game we often play 2 or 3 times in a row.

No, each play isnt eildly unique, but the different map set up does make each game feel unique. My friend and i tend to play best 2/3 and weve plated this quite a lot. Most area control games arent great at 2 players, and with this one being designed only for 2 players, its by far the best in my experience. I really enjoy Great Plains

Great review. I keep seeing this game and couldn't decide if it would be a game we played or not.
After the review I think we would play it as I think it's something my son would enjoy playing over and over

Ah, two players, the best player count. BTW doesn't the new Netflix Dark Crystal have Fizgig too?

I've owned Great Plains, since it's release.... unopened and sitting on the shelf of shame. Maybe, I'll finally now get it to the table.

Anything in the same niche but can be played more?

I believe Zee García recommended this some time ago. I wasn't quite convinced back then and am even less so now. I have a very small collection so most of my games do get played frequently. High replayability therefore is a must. Great review, btw.

Great review! Though it’s game that I would like to try but not enough to buy… I will keep an eye for it nonetheless!

Wasn't sure just where to put this comment, but thought it wouldn't hurt to make a request for a certain game being reviewed by you. It is Rear Window, based on the Hitchcock film. It looks effectively thematic, and has been described as a successful hybrid of a more streamlined Mysterium and a tip of the hat to the old classic Mastermind. Always value hearing your views.

I think the designer is really genius, so this is probably a great game for me!

I haven't played this and I'm trying to understand why it has a low replay value. Is it because the board doesn't change significantly? Or because they are not many strategies? Cause chess has an unchanging board and a standard set of opening moves and, well.. strategies.

Have you played most of the Lookout 2-Player game line? How would you rate them all?

It is competitive against other Area Control/Majority Abstracts. That said, most of your Pros and Cons describe the "Easy to learn, hard to master" abstracts.

I like the look of it, but it is in direct parallel to so many other games I own and don't play enough

Nice review, Luke. Not a game for me, but I would not have known that without your review.

I was more interested before hearing about the replayability. I tend to play 2+ player games more than just 2p games when playing 2 player. For an abstract game like this, Santorini is still my favorite.

I really like this one. I’m a fan of 2 player abstract strategies in general - and this one is a lot more welcoming and easier to convince people to play than austere looking games like the gipf project.
