Disney has had one of its worse weeks, PR wise in awhile. I love it!
First that Victoria Alonso being let go and kicking up a storm on her way out, now their 'new Thanos', Kang actor Jonathan Majors, was arrested for awful things.
I despise modern Disney, so i just sit back and laugh at all the disasters surrounding that company. 🤣

The "updated" little mermaid makes me laugh so much because it shows how little these guys even look at the source material. This "updated" version follows the exact same themes that the original does. She doesn't go up for a boy, she just ends up meeting one whilst up there. Fucking hell, these guys always think they're doing something new and progressive when they're not

I’m a straight, half Filipino/half Western Euro male, and Mulan has *always* been my favorite Disney figure. I’m neither female, nor Chinese. Mulan is also my fully white 5yo niece’s favorite.

I understand wanting to see more variety—hell, I crave for more mainstream Filipino representation, and I don’t mean casting a Filipino because they look Asian—but enforcing it through race/gender swapping of existing characters is not the way to go about it.

As cliche as it sounds, as a black man i love how he constantly makes the point that you don't have to have the same skin color as someone to identify with them. I'm a black haired, brown eyed broad shouldered black man and Cal Kestis (Red haired, Green eyed, white as paper STRAIGHT man)from fallen order is one of my favorite characters of all time and his first debut is only a few years at most. He embodies what a jedi is supposed to be WAY more than finn or rey ever did simply by his personality, i don't care how many speeches about racism you make if your character has shitty writing. If you have a well written story WE will identify AND engage with it, simple as that

One thing i love that Nintendo is doing that Disney isn’t is that their making a film that is just for enjoyment and entertainment. A recent leak of the original plot was shared of the Mario film and apparently peach was gonna be doing a majority of the work and be more of a girl boss while they were gonna make Mario look like a complete idiot. Nintendo actually demanded they change it since it didn’t even fit the characters at all. In all honesty that’s a major W from them and I feel like personally the Mario movie is gonna out perform any Disney animated film because unlike Disney Nintendo doesn’t care about pushing a message. They just want to make a film that’s actually enjoyable

Anyone else want to remind Haille that Ariel desired to be human BEFORE she ever met Eric? Finding a man wasn't her original goal, it was a bonus. So they blackwashed and butchered the character for no real reason other than "muh failed diversity, " and crowing their non-existent virtue.
