Dan is saying the current environment (tariffs, CapEx cuts, supply chain uncertainty) is so disruptive that short-term fundamentals are unreliable. Like a VC, he’s tossing out the 2Q and 3Q data (i.e., “noise”) and looking to normalize around future performance—specifically 2026.
This is akin to pricing a startup on Year 3 revenue during a volatile macro cycle rather than getting distracted by Month 6 burn rate.
