How to Tie in with a Rethreaded Bowline Knot: Rock Climbing

This quick step by step video will teach you how to tie into your harness with a Rethreaded Bowline Knot. This is the ultimate knot to use when working your rock climbing projects as it's super bomber but remains easy to undo after large and/or numerous whips.

This knot is also known as a Bowline on a Bite or Doppelte Bulin in Germany where it is more commonly used.

Nice to know! I've always wondered how to do it, I use single bowlines for many things, but never thought that it could be rethreaded and turned into a climbing knot until recently. I still think the figure of 8 is safer in general, especially for people who don't know what they're doing, cause it's visually easy to check if it's been done right. But I also think that the more things you know, the better! I'll definitely give it a try, thanks for making the video

Nice vid 👍
My first switch to bowline was rethreaded but quickly gave it up for the convenience and speed of a double bowline. I don't see any practical advantage adding a 2nd strand through the harness, the rest of the rope is on single strand anyway. If this was a concern then I would always climb on twin ropes.
But of course each to their own, and it certainly doesn't hurt.. unless it gets too complicated for new climbers.
Looking forward to future videos, nice work! 😊

I use this knot 99% of the times. Very good indeed. Never had a problem. The only time I use the 8 knot is for multi pitches.

The backup knot is half a double fishermans or a double overhand around the load strand.

any concern about the stopper knot somehow backing its way through the loop, say if the main knot gets worked loose enough while being loaded and unloaded?

hm, the eight knot doesn't need stoper knot at all, it doesn't do anything in it according to Hard is Easy videos about figure eight and how to tie it to untie easily after a hard fall.
