I like to think that every night when the echo of voices has long since departed from the forest, the last lovers have walked with linked arms down the darkened path, and the sounds of the night have begun to sing out their familiar song the owl feels a glorious sense of freedom, a familiar thrill, and brief moment of exhilaration as it feels the cool night air slip beneath its wings. I like to believe that though the owl is old and wise, it never loses that sense of childlish wonder as it slips from the tree limb and descends into darkness. That is my hope, and I want to believe it is so.

Owls waltzing in the European night. I can visualise their flight in the music. I actually visualise a whole story. Again, the ending is noticeable, a bit melancholic. I was expecting the waltz to resume after the series of chords but no, it stopped. One of my owls turned back into a human and stayed where it was, watching the other one take flight again. (I promise it all makes sense in my head). You do like contrast, don’t you?
And in this one a melody is floating, it’s not as abstract as your last ones 🧐🙂
