chord Qutest doesn't have X-phd option which is a must for headphones,
it is the best thing chord implemented in the Hugo & Dave line.

Thanks for sharing your setup, very useful. Will appreciate if you could help me with the following 2 questions:
1 - Where did you get the 1/4 inch to 4 pin XLR connector? I've looked at various websites but no success so far.
2 - What do you mean by the desktop mode on the Hugo 2 in which the batteries are not charged. Can you please provide more information as I use my Hugo 2 mainly as part of my desktop setup, however, no idea about the desktop mode.

Something to note is that the Hugo 2 can overheat, particularly if you have it in the protective leather case, and it will automatically shutoff when it does.

Hi. Can you make a review on Violectric 281? No one do it on YouTube. And compare with Hugo2 as headphone amp. How they sound and which one sound better and why. I have Hugo2 and have this combo in my thought a long time but afraid it will not make much improvement for the money I spend. Thank you.

I run a somewhat more entry level equivalent to this system (Mojo 2 into a Cambridge AXA35) and it works surprisingly well, even as a DAC and preamp for a speaker system. Having USB-C on the Mojo compared to Micro USB only here is much more convenient but from what I’ve heard at least the Hugo 2 is another level when it comes to clarity and resolution. That said, my Mojo 2 gets quite hot during extended use so any advice to mitigate that would be appreciated.

The overheat and shutdown problem can be solved with a 100*100mm heat sink to bind up with hugo2. But there was another problem: even if hugo2 runs in a purple desktop mode, it still auto-shutdown for battery runout, about in 2-4 days, even if it's not at work at all, so I had to turn it off every 1 or 2 days. BTW, a copper shell hugo2 sounds better.

Nice video, If i use hugo 2 as a destop dac exclusively, when it turns into desktop mode after 24 hours, do i need to turn on/off buttom off after use? Or just leave it 24/7, which option is best for battery life?

First off - thanks for all the great content and reviews. I'm a little confused though as I'm sure your older Hugo 2 review eluded to the fact you thought it was too bright or brittle sounding (perhaps I'm mistaken) but is this decision to use the Hugo 2 now a result of better combination with the LCD headphones over the Z1R's?

Hi, did you sell your Z1R? I want to buy Hugo 2 but concern about treble spikes, how was your experience with Z1R in your earlier review you preferred the TT over Hugo because of treble issues. Also is Audeze a substantial upgrade over Z1R. Thanks for your review.

Hey buddy, looking for some advice
I’m in the process of updating my desktop DAC headphone amplifier
I require all the functionality of the Sennheiser HDVD 820
Balanced XLR both in and out preamp et cetera
For this price of 2100 British pounds, is there anything else better for my money? I’m not too happy about the DAC in this set up
So I looked into buying the cutest, which is a far better DAC I’m sure, but is there another amplifier that outperforms this with the same functionality? Obviously in this situation I’ll have a separate piece for the amp and the DAC
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Sorry Man, but usb on Hugo 2 sucks. I have the same setup (Hugo 2 + Violectric 281 but Ether C Flow & AKG K872 instead of Audeze) and I've tried every digital input so the SQ defenetly grows: BT < USB < Optical < Coax. Just try at least cheap HiBy R3 with USB-C to Coax proprietary HiBy cable and you will hear the difference immediately. Try something like Berkeley Alpha USB and you will fall in love with your absolutely new system.
