Part two- Continuation of banding. Removing the remaining two eaglets from the nest, taking measurements and placing them back on the nest.

This starts with Nate Melling climbing the nest tree and removing one of the eaglets. He places the eaglet in a duffel which he hands off to Dr. Peter Sharpe. He then puts the banded female, 34/A back on the nest and removes the third eaglet, placing it in a duffel also.
They are taken a short distance from the nest where beak and hallux measurements are taken to determine the sex of the eaglets.
They are banded accordingly, both have a silver federal band placed on the left leg and an orange band on the right leg, denoting these are both males. One is banded with leg band 55/A and the other is banded 45/A.

After banding is completed, the eaglets are gently placed back on the nest and Nate takes a few close up pictures. He then adds a few sticks to the nest as reinforcement.

Thank you IWS for the opportunity to view these nests!

Enjoy!
