Learning and Understanding Social Skills

“The Social Norm” is a video/visual introduction to the concept that there are rules, or "social norms" for social behavior, in any social group. And that, although there are rules, there are many factors that can change the rules.

If you've ever tried to instruct someone with social challenges on "simple" social rules, you find that there's nothing simple about them, and there seems to be an exception to every rule.

So where do we start? Let's start by defining the term, "Social Norm."

I created the character (Social) Norm, to be an authority on social norms and named him thus. I intend to bring him back in future videos about social norms.

Special thanks to Michelle Garcia Winner for her creation of social mapping, and the behavior terms "Expected" and "Unexpected."

This helped me because I’m a robot that has no human emotion and I really needed this for my infiltration of the human race.

Social norms change with age is the most important factor.

*Social norms are subjective “situation ‘ethics, ’” (which always leads to double “standards”), and thus relativistic as they are continually evolving and cannot be clearly defined.*

Social norms Are ridiculous don't use words that are outdated wtf social norms cause stress and unhappiness it's the reason why so many young girls who have barely left schools are having kids when they're still kids themselves.. because they think its expected of them.. of course good manners cost nothing but the rest of it it's just basically act like this and you'll fit in people who follow norms judge others and look down on those who are unique and don't fit in.. I don't want to fit in I never have im happy to stand out and before you judge and say I have an attitude I'm just giving my opinion because what I've learned from society is them following the norms have attitudes aren't happy especially single middle aged women who havent done anything with there lives because theyre tied down with kids because social norms have taught them that

A leader should not ask someone to do something that they are not willing to do. The young kid that is technically over me won’t do the hard stuff

In my opinion, those who break or not follow the current norms are certified toxic people already. Following social norms are priceless way of showing respect, empathy and kindness to others.
I used to be a different person who loves being alone and wants to enjoy my own company. I've been like this until I realize that I became an uncomfortable/unrelatable person to be with in a gathering which is bad.
Yes, we can all be different and we can do whatever we want but when we are out of our comfort zones, just follow the social norms to be relatable. Be normal.
