I’m a native English speaker and it definitely sounds like “idennify” when I say it, so I think I get what he’s going for.
However, I’m the last person to get advice on pronouncing Ts from, since I also inexplicably pronounce Ts in the middle of words as Ds (e.g. button -> buddon).
