Award-winning violinist Rob Landes and pianist Aubry Pitcher perform an incredible live looping violin/piano cover of the popular song "Hallelujah", written by Leonard Cohen.

Rob Landes is an award-winning violinist who started playing the violin at 3 years in Orem, Utah. Born to a large musical family, Rob gave his first solo recital at 10 years old, performed in the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on the Disney Channel with the Disney Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, and founded a piano trio that performed actively throughout his teenage years. Rob has won first prize at numerous music competitions and has soloed with the Utah Symphony, Utah Valley Symphony, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, BYU Philharmonic, and BYU Chamber Orchestra. As a first violinist of the BYU Chamber Orchestra, Rob performed in more than twenty cities throughout central and southern Europe, and as concertmaster of the orchestra, gave a concert to a sold-out audience in New York’s Carnegie Hall. Rob was awarded full scholarships to attend Brigham Young University and Rice University where he earned a Bachelor’s in Music and Master’s in Music, respectively. While studying at Rice, Rob began covering rock and pop music, and upon returning to Salt Lake City after graduation, bought a looper pedal and an amp which he uses to create intricate and stunning arrangements of today and yesterday’s most popular music.

Before my brother passed away, he shared his love of this song with me. Mr. Cohen was his choice of music in his final months. No wife, no children, to share all he wished or dreamed of in his final days, he turned to me and called me his angel. I never left his side until an hour after he left me for good. This song is embedded in my soul and I feel his presence when it is heard. Thank you for such a divine rendition of, Hallelujah. It gave me moments of perfect reflection.

I was having problems sleeping lately, I used to sleep for an hour maximum. I have been a little stressed I guess? I found this cover a few days ago and I have started sleeping a lot better, all the thoughts, all the stress, and all the insecurities just kind of fades away whenever I listen to this with my eyes closed. I rarely ever comment on a video, but this one deserves more than a comment, I wish I could give you my heart for this. It's very special to me, I am 18 by the way, but one day I wish to become capable of collecting records from different eras, and I just wish that one day this same track, of this same video would be my first record. This song has helped me through a lot, I guess, this cover just speaks a story to me every time I listen to it's a new story every time and it puts my mind to ease, I'll be thankful to you and your mother for this cover because if it wasn't for this I guess I would have bottled up instead of letting go.
