Dr. Matthew Weingard
Dr. Matthew Weingard has a wealth of clinical experience that was first inspired by mission-based service. After working as an ER and neurotrauma ICU nurse in Philadelphia, he practiced in Uganda with a faith-based mission organization. Shortly after returning to The States, he completed combined Medical and Master of Public Health degrees at Tulane University. He completed his residency training in general psychiatry at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and his fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Duke University. He further extended his training in South Africa as a Fogarty Global Health Fellow in association with Duke University and the National Institutes of Health. He worked as medical faculty at Duke University for 2 years with a focus in pediatric consultation liaison psychiatry, education of pediatric mental health care for primary care providers, and psychiatric management of pediatric autoimmune brain disorders. He is board certified in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Weingard is now assistant faculty with the Department of Pediatrics in the Division of Behavioral Health and associate faculty with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Utah. He has held several clinical roles through Primary Children’s Hospital over the past 2 years. He currently serves as a faculty psychiatrist with the Behavioral Health Consultation and Liaison Service and Medical-Psychiatric Clinic at Primary Children’s Hospital Salt Lake City Campus, which focuses on providing evaluation and management of children with both complex medical and behavioral health needs. He spends a portion of his time working with the Chinle Navajo Reservation in efforts to enhance access to child and adolescent mental health care.
Daniel Peterson, CMHC, MA, Eds. M Div., M. Tho
Daniel Peterson is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Primary Children’s Hospital and specializes in pediatric outpatient therapy and crisis interventions. He has master’s degrees in theology, divinity and professional counseling. He practiced as an ordained Catholic priest for 4 years before transitioning full time to clinical care. His passion is to use an integrative and holistic view of the human person including one’s experience of spirituality and religion. When he’s not working you can find him skiing at snowbird, spending quality time with his friends and family or listening to great music and eating good food.
