Apple have finally updated the Apple Watch SE, today were looking at the Apple Watch SE 2, Apple’s new entry level Apple Watch. I really enjoyed the previous Apple Watch SE as it offered the core Apple Watch features at an attractive price. The new Apple Watch SE 2 now comes at a slightly lower price, $249 / £259, and today I am going to be covering everything you need to know about this watch. I chose the GPS only, 41mm, SE 2, in Midnight. Price $249 / £259, $30 less than SE 1. I got GPS model, my advice, only get cellular version if leave home without phone. I went for the 40mm - more proportionate on my 155mm wrist. I choose the darker midnight colour, best matches most outfits, formal and causal wear, plus perfectly compliments iPhone 14. When it came to band I went for Sports band, great place to start. Comfortable, easy to clean and versatile especially in midnight. What’s new with the SE 2 vs SE 1? Biggest upgrade is the S8 chip, same from Series 8. Good for two reasons. 1. Performs just as fast as Series 8. 2. Will get many years of software support 5-6 years. Low power mode. In addition to fall detection SE 2 adds Crash detection. Apple Watch SE 2 also has, 50m water resistance, continues heart rate monitoring, but no ECG or blood oxygen, only on S8. Display most important part of any smartwatch. Bright OLED display with rounded corners makes the watch look and feel modern. In daily use, 40mm display never too small, apple optimised Watch OS9 to use of every mm and it shows! One feature that is still missing on the SE is always-on display seen on the Apple Watch Series 8 - a feature I personally very much enjoy having, but does come at big jump in price. Like the previous SE 1 and Series 8 for that matter, SE 2 can last me all day with around 25% remaining before going to bed. I charge in morning while I get ready for the day. 45 min, charge from 25% to 80%. When it comes to performance, S8 chip, like on Series 8 absolutely flies. Switching between apps is seamless and apps launch quickly. Now I want to talk about how I use the watch day to day. For me it is the more underrated apple watch features that I enjoy having most. Getting notifications on the wrist is fantastic. Unlock my Mac when I’m near and lock when I walk away. Adjust volume of my headphones with digital crown. Ping my iPhone if lost. Siri is great, quickly create reminders, control y lights and check the temperature. I use Apple Pay everyday, tap to pay, safe and easy! Maps too is handy on the Apple Watch. Lastly, activity rings. As a very objective oriented person, I find it so satisfying to complete these rings, ensuring I get at least moderate levels of exercise each day! After all of this, you can see why I like Apple Watch SE so much. And with more powerful processor, new safety features and lower price, I like the Apple Watch SE 2 even more. If you are new to the Apple Watch or on older model like Series 3, the Apple Watch SE 2 is fantastic watch that I highly recommend!

I’m definitely going to get this watch. The combination of the price with all of the features like crash detection, new chip, and Bluetooth 5.3 make this a purchase a no brainer for me.

The 2nd Gen SE is probably the best apple watch for people. The series 8 and Ultra are way over geared and too expensive for someone who just wants an apple watch that does the most basic stuff. The actual problem with the 1st Gen SE was the chipset and screen as they were too obsolete for the possibilities of that period, but as this problem was solved with this watch I feel like it's the best bargain for someone who's not an athlete or doesn't actively need to get involved in out of the ordinary situations.

I think my favourite feature of this 2nd gen Watch SE would be the more efficient chip and the fall detection. Also having the 2nd gen heart rate sensor from the gen 1 on the first SE is a big plus. Definitely considering this watch for myself

I’m so amazed by how cheap it is considering it’s new! I’ve been debating getting an Apple Watch for a while now and honestly the price was the main thing putting me off but I feel like that’s good value for money, definitely going to treat myself once Christmas is over

The watch is almost going to be three years old soon

A year later, me and my girl got SE Gen 2s for each other as early christmas presents. Dies in about 2 days of consistent use. We love tracking each other’s steps and rings and we walkie-talkie each other constantly.
