If memory serves, those Bobcat brand attachment hydraulic couplers are a -12 orb fitting. Many folks end up with a 1/2" NPT fitting. We used to order the NPT fittings from A&I. But several vendors sell such a coupler. Also, many skid steer/CTL's use those same style of hydraulic couplers. They shouldn't be too hard to find.

Nice purchase. The Skid Steer or Bobcat as we call them in Canada, will really help you in the Farm. A set of Forks goes a long way.

Bobcat’s are made in my home state of North Dakota…you will be surprised at how much you will use it and how many attachments you will end up getting…enjoy😊

For dirt work a shallow bucket is better, was always was called a dirt bucket. To do grading keep the bucket full and go forward keeping the bucket almost flat. Backing onto the trailer is the best way. Good to see you have a good machine, I sold them and used them for a long time.

First things first BUY A GOOD HEAVY DUTY GRAPPLE!!! Pulling posts, moving things around, clearing fence rows, clearing brush, picking up concrete chunks in the yard(lol) grabbing anything. It’ll be the most used attachment for under $2000

We have a t870. That's a very nice skidsteer. Make sure to change your hydraulic fittings to your solenoid they'll wear out soon if not been changed yet. Gongrats!

my first experience with a skid steer was driving it a mile down a paved road next to a lake (narrow roads lots of houses) and the hand controls (old style like you talk about) would not "return to center" on their own. keep in mind this it the first time i had ever driven one. i would get jumping around and up and down so bad the only recourse was to shut it off... this mainly happened at intersections where i had to make a 90' turn... lots of people got a good laugh...

When using channellocks or crescent wrenches always put the pressure on the fixed jaw. The crescent wrench can break its moveable jaw if used incorrectly, but the Channellocks just don’t work if used incorrectly. If you pry on the moveable jaw it actually tries to open the pliers and you’re fighting it the whole time. If you push on the fixed jaw, as you push it tightens the grip, the harder you push, the tighter the grip. You an even take your hand off of the movable grip and it will keep the grip.

1) get a length of tubing that fits into the pockets on the trailer deck

2) get a steel plate, sturdy enough to mount a bench vice to. drill holes as needed.

3) weld plate onto tubing, bolt on the vice. if the vice can swivel, all the better.

4) if your trailers all have different-size pockets, make several bases - you never know when you need to hold something, but still need both hands free...

(and yes, REVERSE onto the trailer, esp when there's nothing attached to the boom - rear 'wheelies' are hard to recover from, been there still got the scars)

You will absolutely love this "tool". By the end of summer, you will be a pro! (Don't forget about the seat belt, they can tip over, I'm a dad, lol)

Any skidsteer dealer should have had the correct fittings you needed. I'm sure the tree attachment just had pipe thread fittings. Glad it worked out in the end!

Understand, running down a paved/ chipseal road will wear the tracks Tracks are around $1690.00 each....
Wonderful tool on a farm and
Great you had the fluids changed....on point ☝️👉

I hope you have better luck with that machine than most. When you find out how much it cost to run per hour, you won’t be driving a mile down a road. Good luck.

Nice unit.
Grant, a skid steer might not be a money maker, but it will help you reduce the time you spend on chores freeing up time for other things that can make you money.
Enjoy the machine.

G & L,
Another good way to smooth dirt with the bucket is to get a bucket full of dirt for weight. Then put the bucket full of dirt flat on the ground or close to flat. You will get the feel for exactly what degree of tip you want as you work it. Use the float setting and back drag the area on a 45 degree angle to the cut (or the berm whichever you're dealing with). In extreme cases you might want to back drag it twice over in this manner but the second time you back drag, do it in the opposite direction, again at a 45. That would be 90 degrees from the original back drag (a cross pattern). I have never done this with a skid steer, but I have done it with a backhoe many times. Should work the same provided the bucket is large enough and heavy enough to do the trick. It will give the topography a lot smoother general finish than trying to use the sharp edge of the blade to get close to a finish grade.
I notice that your new skid steer has the arm set up so it can reach high enough to load into a regular size dump bed. In certain situations that's a great tool to have. Maybe they all are that way now, none of them were that way in the beginning and it was a pretty bid deal when they started appearing with that feature.
Good luck. Love you guys videos.

Skid steers do not hurt as much with a hard for snow. Go for a helmet with a radio ! clean up after manure moving to keep the loader from Look for tricks to load it into a truck bed without a ramp. YouTube has trails joe

If both of you are around for loading/unloading the one not driving the skid hold the brakes of the truck. If there is only one (or need a camera person) pull the breakaway on the trailer. It will stop the rocking, give you a better feel for skid while loading/unloading and and save a lot of wear and tear on the trucks transmission. Great when on slippery ground it dirt, mud, snow, Loading equipment on a trailer can remove enough weight from the rear of the truck that it can slide causing runaway truck. Moreso when loading on an incline, depending on the surface (snow or ice) ice seen it on a flat surface.

I really hope you two get along and are having as much fun together off camara as you are on camara. Young marriages can be trying at times. I married at 22 and my wife was 18, both her and I made some large mistakes, ego's are the worst thing to take with you into a new relationships, remember that. And oh yea, also alcohol WILL really mess it up bad.
