Rays AWKWARD Stadium (and Schedule) for Tampa in 2025

Dozen of Tampa Bay Rays’ staff members are racing the clock Wednesday to re-brand Steinbrenner Field before Friday’s season opener.

“Four days, really a sprint to turn this from Yankees spring training to home of the Rays,” Bill Walsh, Rays’ Chief Business Officer, told ABC Action News.

“There is really no playbook for this,” Walsh added. “We were really building the place as you fly it, so to speak.”

The Rays’ biggest rival, the New York Yankees, were gracious enough to lend their spring training ballpark for this season.

Over 3,000 pieces of Rays' art will be installed by Friday.

Staff members are covering and removing almost everything Yankees to make the space look and sound as much like the Rays’ home as possible.

I used to go to Dolphins Stadium to watch the Marlins at 1pm on a Sunday in August and felt like you were on the surface of the sun.

Give credit where it's due; major respect to the Yankees for allowing mini changes done at their spring training facility.

Rays are still gonna end up moving.

Went today was awesome seeing them play outdoors. We were in the 200s yet felt on top of play. Wind was blowing in and never have that at the Trop. Was a nice warm day and got fireworks after the HR and win.

Imagine how embarrassing it is, to go to another teams spring training stadium and it’s way nicer then your major league stadium lol.

I'm there on opening day so I'll give you a real feel of being there

George Steinbrenner loved the Tampa Bay region so much so that he had a mansion here and he’s buried here in Tampa Bay.

Thanks to the Steinbrenner family and the New York Yankee organization for letting us use their facility until we get our own house back.

The rain isn't really the problem. The rain can last less than an hour sometimes. It's the lightning that's the issue because it can strike regardless of rain. And you can't be outside until the lightning is well out of the area. Every year, people get stuck by lightning in Tampa because they're outside and think since it's not raining, they're safe from lightning.

I might get hate for this, but at this point moving to another city is probably the best thing for the rays. They had thier chance with building a new stadium and they blew it. Preferably Orlando since they already have an ownership group ready to go.

This genuinely feels like the Arizona Coyotes at Mullett Arena all over again.

It would be hilarious if they have like 5 double headers in September.

The A’s got Fisher’d, but the Rays got Florida’d.

Orlando Health is the parent company of Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg across from the stadium, they just renamed to Orlando Health St. Pete Bayfront.

Living in Florida I think it would be cool to go see the Braves play the Rays at Steinbrenner field, actually. However, with the Rays pricing their tickets based on fewer seats, it doesn't leave tickets in my price range. As a Floridian but non Rays fans I'm much rather see a game at Steinbrenner that the depressing dome that was the Trop in its best days in the depressing city center that is downtown St. Pete.

I'm rooting for Orlando to get The Ray's, since Nashville seems to be out in its pursuit of them.

As a White Sox fan living in Arizona I hope the Rays find a way to stay in the Tampa Bay Area…I went to Busch Gardens as a freshman in high school and always liked visiting Florida.

9:08 that’s what happened last year
The Diamondbacks had to wait on the Mets and Braves to make up a rainout and the Diamondbacks missed the playoffs by a tie

I went to 30 games last year. I'm not buying any tickets as long as Stu owns the team.

This is the reason for stadiums with retractable roofs to avoid double headers due to weather.

Orlando Health purchased Bayfront Hospital in St Pete, that's why they're a sponsor. It has nothing to do with Orlando itself.
