Excited to have a 5e version, hopefully done better than Spelljammer

I wish they were releasing a proper Manual of the Planes as part of this, with details and fleshed-out 5e rules for all of the Outer Planes. I'm sure the Gate Towns will be useful microcosmic starting points, but still.

Honestly the thing that made Sigil unique in 2e was the kriegstanz, the philosophical cold war between the Factions for control of the city. Sure the Lady of Pain ruled but belief was power and if you could tip the scales anything was possible (shout out to Duke Rowan Darkwood). Will be very interested to see what they do with the factions beyond the planar philosopher background.

Reminder to play Planescape: Torment (even though it's based on 2nd edition rules)

I used to want WOTC to translate all the old content to 5e.
Now I just want them to focus on getting writers that can make decent new stories before breaking old ones.

Planescape is my favorite D&D setting…. So many memories of this incredible setting. Planescape Torment PC game, the paperback novels, the Factols War… and of course the Lady of Pain who is more powerful than the strongest dieities . ❤️‍🔥🌹 can’t wait to dive into this box set.

After Spelljammer I’m gonna wait for reviews before buying this.

The Lady of Pain herself will punish anyone who pronounces "Sigil" with a soft "g" sound.

8:00 sounds like a cool plot. You get hired by the governor of an evil-aligned gate town as a private contractor to take out some of the too successful gang leaders and do some good deeds here and there, so that the town doesn't just get subsumed into the plane it is supposed to lead to.

I was really hoping for an Eberron type book that just updated the essentials to 5E. Glad I have all the 2E books to rely on. Planescape is by far my favorite campaign setting and one I've continually returned to. Hopefully there will be something useful in these books. For anyone interested in really diving into this setting the Dmsguild is your friend.

"Eligibility: Any character can become a Merkhant, but he’s got to be able to put together quite a stash before the Misers believe he’s got what it takes to join their sect. Merkhants can’t be of good alignment, since the accumulation of wealth for its own sake is a pretty self-centered activity."

After butchering Spelljammer I hope you guys have learned a lesson in properly caring for us the consumers instead of making a quick buck out of nostalgia. This one is specially important to me as a Planescape campaign was my introduction to DnD back in 3.5. The art looks promising at least.

I'm hoping for a really good map of Sigil, City of Doors.

Lets make this one better than the spelljammer release please? This was the thing I was most excited for this year and I just have a sneaking suspicion it's gonna be a repeat of the last.. The Eberron book was the last really good settings book that was done and its one book was somehow more content filled than the spelljamer 3 book set.

I'll definitely be holding out to ensure they don't screw us like with Spelljammer

I hope WOTC learned from their mistakes with Spelljammer for their Planescape project, but judging from the 3-book offering for this entry I highly doubt it. Hopefully they will depart from their "rulings not rules" framework for creating D&D content with this release, and give the DM proper tools to run the world provided.
