Thanks Garry, different strokes for different folks. Just spent a month in Davao and asked myself could I live here? Well, yes... and i made a few friends along the way! I was sorry to leave but like yourself i will be retiring there one day.

Hi Garry, you're absolutely right as we never get bored and never ever are lonely in Davao City. I must confess that we are in our house only 1 month every year (until retirement) but we always seem to be short of time. It is easy to make new friends and there are plenty of things to do and/or to see in Davao City.

When I visit Turkey, Cyprus or Malaysia, people are inclined to join you, extend invitations for socializing, even during a brief vacation, making these destinations seem uniquely welcoming.

Thank you Garry you have explained it well, it all makes sense to me, yes mate you have to do your homework if you want a good interacting holiday! I have been to the Philippines twice and both times i have enjoyed it thoroughly, even the so called culture shock was a much needed experience. Lastly the people are just so friendly as you know yourself. Cheers mate!

I agree. If you want to retire to Davao or anywhere else for that matter. Doing some research is definitely very good advice. I love Davao and personally would not be lonely there. As you said. You get out what you put in. Never a truer word spoken.
