I have the 13" x plus one and am very happy with it. I use it for c# and c++ development. Doing some work in Blender is fine also though wouldn't want to cycles render a complex scene on it

Also just buy the cheapest 256GB because you can easily upgrade the M.2 2242 SSD. 1TB can be found for less than 80€

The lack of differentiation in the X Elite SOCs is why I bought the Lenovo, which has the E78 SOC. It was also the only one I could find with 1tb SSD & 32gb RAM. It's a mighty little beast!
Add to that the fact it cost around the same as the Surface Laptop, which has less SSD & RAM, and it was clear the Lenovo was the best for software development. The build quality rocks, too

It makes sense that you controlled for memory here, but what if you wanted to the 32GB RAM, were set on the 13 inch size, and didn't care about the couple hundred dollars extra in price? What I'm mostly concerned about is weighing battery life and performance from the increased memory as there is no option to get 32GB RAM with the X Plus model.

Useful info, but you are completely ignoring RAM, storage and colour options, as some (1 TB or black for example) are only available with the X Elite.

Did you test the Asus Vivobook S 15 Snapdragon version? How does it compare? Price plays a big factor, and in my region the Surface ARM laptops cost 50% more than the Vivobook, while the Asus one has twice as much RAM.
