GED Social Studies - How to Get the Right Answers on the 2024 Test (1)

I took all four test today on four hours of sleep. It is crazy long and exhausting to take all at once. I scored 168 in the language, 162 in social studies, 158 in science, and 153 in math. I live in Alabama by the way. I dont know if the testing is different elsewhere.

Also keep in mind that I did very little studying for language, science, and social studies. All of the practice tests and practice test videos showed that it all came down to reading comprehension. I focused my time studying algerbra.

Language was definitely the easiest for me. It was mainly reading a super long paragraph and answering around 7 based on said paragraph. I think i had to read 4 or 5 of these really long paragraphs. The stories were long and boring. In the end reading comprehension is all you really needed.

In the essay, you have to read a really long paragraph that has two arguments. The goal of the essay is to decide who has the better argument based on the facts that are presented. Pulling out information from the essay was easy, but the compiling of information and typing it down in my own words took forever. I'm not a fast typer or good speller so this one was hard to do before the time ran out.

Science was a bitch. It had much smaller paragraphs than the language portion, but it was so harder to understand. I felt like a couldn't understand English while reading most of these paragraphs. I almost didn't finish the test in time because I just had such a hard time reading the paragraphs. It seemed to be mainly testing your reading comprehension and knowledge of how to read graphs. It also threw several questions at me that told me to use a calculator. I didnt have a clue on what to calculate so I relied on reading comprehension and critical thinking to guess.

Social studies was a lot like language but a little harder. You had to read long paragraph and answer the questions based on the paragraph. You had to read paragraphs from things like presidential speechs and answer questions like "What did president mean from this statement?"or "What can we infer is the presidents standpoint from his speech?" It also talks about the different government branches and what they do. I didnt know which branches did what so I wish I had studied up on the basic government branches and how bills, laws, and acts get passed. I dont remember a ton of questions that dealt with the branches but it definitely would have upped my score if I had know the basics.

For math it had a lot word problems, make an algebraic equation from the word problems, solve for x type problems, and graphs. I cant think of anything else about math. Just make sure you understand how to graph, make an algebraic equation, factor, FOIL, fractions, exponents, etc.

During testing I would have rather have done another math test than science because your brain didn't turn to absolute mush during math. I am actually surprised I didn't score higher on my math.

Just remember to not stress yourself out before the test and not overestimate the test in your head. Im not saying it was an easy test but it definitely wasn't as bad as my mind made it out to be. To all my fellow test anxiety people, I wish you luck! You got this!

I took the Social studies test todoay without reading or preparing and I’ve passed with 155 ..although English is my second language .. the test was pretty much easy because I’m good at comprehension, that’s all u need, u need to read and understand the question.. I hope the best for y’all 🤲🏼

Thank you so much for these videos. I passed my social studies test yesterday with a 175!! I never thought I’d score that high, especially on the social studies portion. It really is just a process of elimination and picking which is the most common sense answer. Even if you don’t know exactly what the question is asking, or what the passage means, you can still find answers that don’t make sense at all and narrow it down to the right one. Ahh, I’m so happy. Your videos are a huge help! My science and math tests are next week, wish me luck :) (math is my worst subject)

I wanted to let you know how helpful these videos were for me, I had initially taken the test and failed. I took to long on the questions that by the time I realized the time was almost over and i had a lot of questions left.... also “social study’s terms” were another thing I had a major problem with... but i studied them and i came across your videos watched all 3 videos right before the test... it was EXTREMELY helpful I passed with a 150! I took my social studies ged exam today. I did it online and scored barely passing in my ged ready which was prior to watching this video, I just watched this video before the exam and passed with a 167. I’m an american citizen and was born in america but don’t have the nearest clue to what is in american social studies because I was raised abroad in a 3rd world country. If I can pass it you guys can definitely pass it. It just requires critical analysis and extensive reading of the question and answers. What really helped me from this video was that how the video maker showed that he cancelled out the definitely wrong ones and then selected from the possible right ones using his quick analysis, this skill came real handy during the exam. This marks a 167 in my language arts and a 167 in social studies with the help of this youtubers videos. Will update when I give the other exams and get results. Thanks alot for this video

I had got Indicted by the feds and the day I was getting arrested, they were passing judgment on me And assumed That I was a stupid Street drug dealer with no education. I am out on a federal bond, a week after I got out I came across your videos as I had just finished enrolling in a ged program. English is my second language and today I passed the social studies test with a score of 161. Yesterday I passed the science test. I only studied for one week. Kaplan GED test Prep 2020 book was huge help, it prepared me really well. Your video’s also helped me pass these tests. Thanks.

Just passed mine after only watching up to 5:53 ! 12-20 . My advice is, focus on the subject you plan on taking . I didn’t study much, but the confident in myself !

I took the Reading GED test November 9th, made a 150 & passed. Took social studies pretest the same day. Made 155, took the social studies GED test made a 140 & failed. I watched this video today March 26th, and made a 146, i passed!! I am half way done. Totally take the pre-test and study on what it says too. Don’t take the test if you aren’t ready and don’t rush on each question. At the end, when you only have 30 seconds or so left, If you have more questions left unanswered, answer them by clicking a random one. You have a 25% chance of getting it right then getting it automatically wrong. Hope this helped!
