The iPhone 6 was released a decade ago and despite its low price of $30-$35, it should not be considered in 2024.
Overall, the display on the iPhone 6 holds up well in 2024 and should not be a concern. The battery on the iPhone 6 is very short while on the iPhone 6 Plus, it lasts for a long time. The camera can only capture basic quality footage; however, the main concern on the iPhone 6 is the speed. The iPhone 6 only has 1GB of RAM and an Apple A8 chip, which is hardly enough to perform basic tasks.
My best alternatives to the iPhone 6 are the iPhone SE 1st/2nd Gen and the iPhone 7.

My grandma gave me her iPhone 6+ after she upgraded to a newer Android. It's fine but iOS 12 and the limited storage/battery make it difficult to use.

I've had this phone before. I got it in 2016 I believe and had it until 2018. It was my dad's phone and he gave it to me when he got a new phone. The battery on that phone was atrocious. Did not hold a charge whatsoever. A full charge usually lasted me half an hour to 45 minutes. An hour if I was lucky. I was in high school and I'd take the phone with me to school and I'd have to bring the charger with me as well because I'd be charging it constantly. There's one morning, I let it charge to 100% right before I left the house and unplugged it right before I left and took the bus to school (which was about half an hour to 40 minutes from our house to the school). I would take the bus at 7:55. First class started at 8:45 (or that's when we had to go into the school and class started at 9:00. I can't remember for sure as it's been awhile since I graduated now) and the phone would be pretty much dead by the time the first class started and all I would do is listen to music on the way to school. Ended up getting a Galaxy S7 to replace that phone and the Galaxy S7 held a way better charge. iPhone 6 was hands down the worst phone I've ever had.

It didn't work that well back in 2015. iPhone 6 is the worst generation from the specs and performance standpoint. It was a third year Apple kept using just 1 gig of RAM i their phones and it wasn't enough for iPhone 6 from the start. iPhone 6 Plus was even worse. So the short answer is "it was never worth it".

I'm a heavy android user but when it's time to fast charge I have nothing else to use. So I'm thinking of getting an iPhone 6 just to use in between charging my android

The 6 i wouldn’t recommend but the 6s however is a pretty usable device. Because it runs iOS 15 still gets security updates and most apps support it.

I have an iPhone 6, and was so pissed off when Apple broke the Youtube application and refused to let you upgrade the app because the OS was out of date. I said 'FUApple' and refused to upgrade, deciding to go to an Android instead. Eventually my sister gave me her unused iPhone XS which I'm using now. I had updated the battery on my iPhone 6 and it was fully functioning but made almost useless due to software nonsense. If all you want to do is email and making phone calls and GPS type stuff, the iPhone 6 is still viable, but forget it if you want to watch YouTube.
