I have to giggle a bit when I see that ornery smile and twinkle in Julie's eye when she talks about ghosts. I loved seeing the castle and I am always in awe and appreciate the history. Thank you!

what a lovely day. Well done, Julie, not interrupting Martin when he erred. Had a wee chuckle to see the corrections on the screen. <3

My goodness, even in ruins it looks beautiful. Imagine setting a chained pot, cooking stew and enjoying the view beside that castle... mmm...

Hello again Jullie and Martin, You certainly got the weather for castle detective work on this date. Now one of the Campbell sons, I think it was John, went to Castle Cawder near Inverness, and kidnapped the young heiress, Muriel, and took her back to Lochawe! early 1500's, if I remember correctly! Now her Grandfather was Rose of Kilravock, near Cawder, and the kidnappers told him that as long as there was a red headed lassie at Lochawe, they'd keep Muriel and John would marry her, which actually happened, and there is still a Campbell in Cawder Castle to this day. Now, I'm not sure if it was John her husband, or their son John, who was shot at Knipoch on Loch Feochan's shores, opposite Kilbride's ground on the other side of Loch Feochan. And likely he deserved it, as the Campbell's were known to be "Hard Nuts", making life hell for other people of Argyll at that time. And another time, when I was around 4 yrs old, in the early 1950's, we were returning with some animals from the market at Dalmally, and as we came to Kilchurn, there was smoke coming from the castle, and we wondered what was happening, to find out later, that it was the tinkers sheltering, and using a fire to make some tin utensils, which they traded round the doors to the crofts in the summer! I thought a ghost was feeling cold, and lit a fire to warm himself up! As usual, my fevered imagination was bad then too, even though I was only a wee girl! Ha-ha! Hope to see you both some day, for a visit, as I have a spare room going free for a wee bit company and a good old blether. ...old Tich.
