TESLA / WAYMO / NVIDIA - “RACE TO THE FUTURE”

In this video we look at 3 of the companies at the cutting edge of the self driving revolution. We will take a quick snap shot of where each company is on their journey to automation and what their ambitious future plans are.

There is Tesla, ran by Elon Musk (Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, The Boring Company) who is probably the more well known in the list. Tesla has a large range of fully self driving cars including the Tesla Model X, Tesla Model Y, Tesla Cyber Truck and The Tesla Semi.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang guides us along with updates regarding Nvidia’s ultra impressive self driving system called Nvidia Constellation and Nvidia Drive. Nvidia provided Tesla with their AI chips until Tesla recently decided to make their own.

Watch the impressive progress of the Nvidia BB8 self driving car.

Last but not least we have John Krafcik of Waymo. Waymo which was formally owned by Google is now a subsidiary of Alphabet.

Waymo has already achieved some pretty amazing things and they were the first to the party when they tested their fully self driving vehicles on public roads in the USA.

Waymo boasts that you do not need a driving licence to use their vehicle.

All 3 companies are not simply car makers but technology companies. Nvidia has a great many projects running such as their impressive Geforce Graphics Cards to name just one other.

Tesla is big in the energy business with Tesla Power Wall and Solar City.

Songs used in the video:

As good as waymo is i do Think that they need to expand their fleet to more cities and maybe even more countries.

The respective scores should have been weighted. Tesla would score a ten on every line, Nvidia a 5, and Waymo somewhere in between.

What company do you think is leading the way?

Waymo seem to have been first to the party and already state no driver is needed. Nvidia are focused on helping others achieve their goals with their impressive technology including Nvidia Constellation and Nvidia Drive and Tesla are dominating with their battery technology and fleet.

It seems like Waymo is plateauing. They have almost been there for a couple years now, but rolling them out has been painfully slow. I wonder if Tesla will hit this ceiling too or rocket on past with their approach.

The questions are:
Which company has the most cars on the road with Autonomous driving capability now? AND...
Which company has the costs at an affordable rate (cost comparisons)?

Tesla is the only one even close to being able to offer a FSD car that I, as a general consumer, can go out and buy and use everywhere there are roads. Musk keeps tooting his horn about the robotaxis, but to me, that is unimportant. I'm not about to let strangers ride around in my personal Tesla.

At this juncture, Waymo is just being built for public transport, and they're nowhere close to being able to drive everywhere. The Waymo cabs are just a gussied-up version of the SkyLink people mover at DFW airport.

Tesla is a LONG way ahead.

I think Tesla wins. Waymo is technically autonomous, but only in areas mapped...in a place with little weather....I’m not sure how that scales to the us/world. Tesla works in the world as it is now; waymo doesn’t.
