Continuing my adventures through time, I find myself in the year 2000 reviewing what has become a cult classic, the G4 Cube.

The text and image effects were done with Keynote. I actually already own a couple Apple 2s that I tinker with. I buy a lot of broken stuff of eBay and garage sales and try to restore them to their original setup.

The Cube works great, I just skipped the OS since I already talked about OS 9 (the original OS on it) in my G3 iMac video. I actually use my Cube almost everyday to listen to music and check twitter when I'm in my workshop. Thanks for watching!

Don't worry, I've got some more straight forward tutorial videos coming up. Feel free to message me any suggestions. Thanks for watching!

Nope, I'm still using iMovie. All the text effects were done with Keynote.

@DitzyDom The G3, G4, and G5's use PowerPC processors made by IBM. Apple dropped support in late 2008 for the PowerPC processor system, and now uses Intel Processors. Only Intel Processors run Snow leopard and Lion. The latest OS for PowerPC computers is 10.5 Leopard, but it is still a very good OS. It is partially supported by Apple.

you know, i love the fact that in a year or two, when you have an enormous audience i´ll be able to say ``oh yeah, i´ve been following matt since he had 300 subscribers or so´´
btw, classic ipods!

Nice video, as always, Matt. :)

Love the engineering on that Cube.
Apple really have great engineering ideas.

Just look at the Mini. It is mindboggling to have that amount of computing power in such a tiny "box".
If you put it next to a stack of CD's, the Mini is marginally bigger. Hehe.

Are you going to keep going with these? I'd love to see one for the iBook G3 clamshell series, as well as various other macs.

Recently bought one, no power supply or anything...just the cube. Do you have any suggestions for getting rid of the scratches on the acrylic? There aren't many, but there's a decent size one on the front and I'd love to polish it up and display it somewhere. Possibly get the power supply and cords in the future when I can afford them. They're rather expensive.
Thanks

@DitzyDom Nope, because its a PowerPC processor

Matt,
I was wondering where did you get the flags in that little room with all of the apple products and I wanted to know if all of the apple products belong to you.

@DitzyDom Leopard is the newest OS you can install on PPC processor.

That ADC connector looks extremely similar to DVI, kinda makes you wonder where DVI (and in turn HDMI) comes from

@DitzyDom Whoops, i was wrong about leopard, you'd be able to upgrade to Tiger if you wanted to ! :D

Are you referring to the 1991 Powerbook 100 or the 1999 iBook G3?

Would you recommend buying one for regular computer use? (2-3 tabs open)

if you bought one of these, upgraded it to the most amount of RAM it could take (not sure how much) a bigger hard drive 500GB+, would you be able to run snow leopard or lion on it ?
