Akita’s are actually amazing family pets they just don’t like strangers. They are very loving dogs to their owners and anyone in the household.

This video is full of misinformation, mainly in the Akita side. Starting by saying that Akita are not family dogs. Also in the video it’s always mentioning Akita Inu, as well as in the title, but half of the time it is showing an American Akita. It lacks credibility in so many topics, it was very disappointing to me.

I love akitas. I've had them for twenty three years. They are beautiful, protective and majestic. I have two of them right now. I like huskies and malemutes too, but they want to run all the time, akitas are happiest with their families in the house

I had Huskies in the past and now "own" an Akita. Some of the info is correct but some on the Akita side is incorrect. Huskies are more playful/goofy where Akitas take things a bit more serious. Akitas fit well as a family dog as long as bounderies are established. Huskies are more needing of attention and Akitas are more likely to leave you alone unless there is food involved. Akitas eat way more than Huskies and that sometimes is the reason why people can't afford keeping one. I spend on average £40 to £50 per week on meat for mine. Akitas will also attempt to talk like Huskies do with people they know but haven't seen in a while. Finally dont get an Akita just for the looks. The food and vet bills will be high and unless you have strong Leadership skills they will fight you for the Leadership of the pack. Tug of war games shouldn't be played with an Akita but used as an exercise to establish your dominance over the Leadership of the pack. Also in terms of pricing Akitas can cost twice the price of a Husky. Hope it helps.

I think I have An Akita that fits non of the descriptions, she is a Japanese/ US cross, 25 " high approx 55 lbs, she loves people, rarely barks, loves tug and pull, she is a great family dog, other sites will say they were used as baby sitters, there is much stuff/ crap about both these dogs,
