We visited everything from the downtown market in San Salvador to the countryside along the Flower Route known as "La Ruta de las Flores". We climbed the Santa Ana Volcano and the whole time we felt completely safe and absolutely loved it.

You are inspiring and proof that NO, you will not get eaten alive if you choose to visit El Salvador. Four years ago my wife and our 17 y/o daughter travelled to Central America all by themselves as I watched after the dog back home in the US. They went to through Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador and El Salvador was by far the most pleasant portion of their trip. They too loved the pupusas, the gente simpatica, and also loved Suchitoto and Chalchuapa. They both want to go back and someday I'm sure all of us will ( I had been to El Salvador in 1985), People need to be more intrepid and it will reward them if they are.

We were in El Salvador earlier this year and we fell in love with the country. We agree with your list - we especially enjoyed meeting all the lovely people and we enjoyed how it was off the beaten path and not overrun with tourists.
We're living in Nicaragua at the moment and you can get pupusas here - there are quite a few El Salvadorians living here and they've brought their pupusas with them!

Because people are scared of what they hear about the country most tourist spots aren’t so full of tourists lol. My parents are both Salvadoran I love going back to visit it’s my favourite country to visit. People have to understand that yes certain parts are dangerous but do your research and common sense when visiting any country. El Salvador has so much beauty I wish more people would experience its beauty.
