These frogs are commonly known as poison dart frogs or poison arrow frogs, but a vast majority of these frog species aren't used for dart-related purposes. They are typically found on the forest floor, though some species do live in the tree canopy. There are currently around 170 known species as of the release of this video and only three of them are known to be used in the making of poison darts by the indigenous people of Columbia. Poison frogs gain their toxicity from the foods they eat; this is why captive kept poison frogs are generally harmless.

Their poison does not come from the ants they eat..The same clown that said oh it's the bacteria in the Komodo Dragon's saliva..It's their glands..

There called poison dart frogs cause people would coat there darts in there poison. So they are called poison dart frogs. Why would you address them by the less cool name. I get they only use three species for this but they are all the same type of frog regardless of genus or species. They all fall under poison darts.
