MAJOR YouTube Updates Happening RIGHT NOW - MUST WATCH

3 Major updates happening right now on YouTube. One of the updates will cause some creators to freak out but two of them are really cool new features we can use to help link people from shorts to long form content and anything we promote. Instructions on setting up links are below in the description.

How to set up links in YouTube studio:
1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left menu, select Customization and then Basic info.
3. Click Add link and enter the title and URL of your site.
4. Click PUBLISH.
5. Repeat for additional links

I just wish they would have implemented the new video/affiliate linking method before removing the old method to give us time to transition.
The ability to direct link a short to a full-length video is a must have.

I saw it coming. At one point I sat there for 4 hours scrolling through the shorts feed. And reported over 5 thousand videos that came from random no name accounts that it’s soul purpose was to get you to click a link for whatever reason. And man where those videos annoying as heck.

It seemed as if one spammer created thousands of random spam channels and reposted the exact spam video over and over and over again to all channels. Meaning even if you clicked “do not recommend” you still got force fed the spam content from their other spam accounts. So I’m kind of happy for some of these changes.

I wish that the platform would put life bans on these people without ever giving them a chance at all or reappearing on the network no matter what. These spammers never deserve a second chance in my eyes. But unfortunately I get it. Youtube is limited to what they can do in terms of moderating this kind of stuff. It’s the unfortunate thing where this is a necessary evil you are required to face while working in the platform.

This really sucks for affiliate links. Pinned comments with affiliate links have been a revenue strategy of my channel for a few years now. We do, however use shorts to promote longform videos. The ability to have only have “content links” will force us to migrate away from affiliate marketing with shorts and more towards using them to direct traffic to other videos.
