Her name is Holo the Wisewolf and she brings bountiful harvests. She wishes to return to her homeland, and Lawrence offers to take her. Now, the once-lonely merchant and the once-lonely wisewolf begin their journey north.

I think one thing always beautiful about their relationship is the dynamic between her afraid to lose him because of that form. Even in subtle things while they talk. She is proud but also scared. And he is reserved but caring and trying to be there for her even in situations where she needs to or does transform. Looking past what she finds ugly/ terrifying.

And realizing having a wife with nice fuzzy tail and cute ears isnt so bad :3

The new version of her wolf form is way cuter, but the original was much more intimidating. If I had to choose I'd go with the original anime's version just due to it fitting the atmosphere and emotional theme of the moment. But can't deny the new one is so fluffy and adorable.

As for the wolf transformation itself for both new and old anime. I like both.

I think the music for the new animation is slightly better as well.

I like the sounds of her bones breaking to transform. Its a thing people forget, how painful it would likely be to rapidly change shape.
I mean just think back on when your legs would ache from grow spurts and then just put it all in 5 secounds and multiply a couple times.
