Tech mogul Bill Gates says he was surprised by how quickly AI apps like ChatGPT were being made. Gates talked about "the most stunning demo I've ever seen in my life" on his "Unconfuse Me" podcast with Khan Academy CEO Sal Khan on Thursday. The demo was of ChatGPT's skills on an AP Biology exam in August 2022. In June of last year, Gates looked at Microsoft partner OpenAI's AI-powered chatbot and wasn't pleased. So the incident began. Yes, I thought to myself, it's kind of a stupid genius. Gates said at the time, "I don't think it's practical."
